 Definition, concept of work place in relation to job satisfaction,


productivity, profit

Work place- The location where you are employed and


where you go to work every day. For employees if the
environment in which they work in, helps them in
fostering a positive personal growth as well as a
professional growth then it leads to high self-esteem and
job satisfaction.

Factors involved in job satisfaction are-


1. Appreciation for your work.
2. Good relationships with colleagues.
3. Good work-life balance.
4. Good relationships with superiors.
5. Company's financial stability.
6. Job security.
7. Attractive fixed salary.

If the employees are more satisfied with the job they are doing then they will be more
productive (productive means the amount of work you do in a deadline.) The more
productive the individual the more profit the company will have.

 Need for ensuring mental health at workplace
Workplace mental health matters because it affects job performance and employee
retention and motivation. Mental illnesses can cause disability and unemployment rates to
rise, resulting in employees who are hired and trained but no longer be able to do their
jobs.

Positive mental health, according to the World Health Organization, is defined as a state
of well-being where individuals are able to: 
Realize their own potential. 
Work productively. 
Cope with the normal stresses of life.

Organizational goals refer to goals which refer to the betterment or the success of
an organization, as a whole. If this be the case, it will do good for all the
employees of the organization.

Individual goals refer to goals which raise the status of an individual. These goals,
when followed by the individual, will take him to greater heights in his job. He
will be the only beneficiary, by following goals set by him.

o Change and re-organization


Organizational change is the movement of an organization from one state of
affairs to another. A change in the environment often requires change within the
organization operating within that environment. It may involve a change in a
company's structure, strategy, policies, procedures, technology, or culture.

o Organizational justice
1. Distributive justice: Fairness of outcome distribution (pay, feedback etc.
2. Procedural justice: Fairness of decision-making processes (inclusion)
3. Interactional justice: Fairness of decision-making treatment and
communication
4. Interpersonal justice focuses on the way in which organizations treat
employees, with an emphasis on respect and courtesy. 
5. Informational justice focuses on whether employers provide adequate
explanations to employees with an emphasis on timeliness, specificity, and
truthfulness

Module III Theoretical foundations of stress
 Understanding stress, anxiety and depression at workplace
 Stress is usually characterized by a sense of feeling overwhelmed. This feeling
may be due to your coping capacity being over-stretched or having been under
pressure for too long. Some stress can help us to perform our day to day
functions, too much stress leaves us “distressed” and often exhausted.

 Anxiety is a sense of fear or dread that something terrible is going to happen.


Anxiety can be general or specific to a place, social situation or thing (phobia)

 Depression refers to an experience where you feel down most of the time which is
called “low mood” and you have also lost interest in things you usually enjoy.
You may also have changes in your sleep, appetite, feel guilty, de-motivated and
generally withdraw from others.
