1. In no more than three (3) sentences, answer the following questions:


a. Why did the catholic church actively oppose the passing of the Rizal bill?
- Cause they claim that it would violate the freedom of speech. That made them
oppose the bill. And to also erase the dark history of priests being addicted to
political power than adhering the teachings of Christ.
b. What provision from the Rizal bill allowed the government to approve it that
answers the arguments provided by the catholic church?
- The catholic schools threatened the government that they will close their school
if the bill is approved. Cause they openly oppose it to bury down some dark past.
But Recto quickly acted and said that if they do it, he will nationalize every school
that threatens the church.
c. Did the church’s views on the study of Jose Rizal’s life and work changed over the
years? Why or why not?
- In today’s era, the views on Rizal’s life and work have been widespread. Though
issues between the government and religious groups have also become
widespread. The difference is that its not just the catholic religion, but some
religions also started opposing.

a. What is the Rizal Law all about?
- Rizal law or republic act 1425 is about implementing or including the life, works
and writings of Jose Rizal to curriculums from private to public universities or
colleges. it is also about to strengthen our patriotism in both heart and mind. It is
also to increase our sense oof nationalism and teach us the events that
happened in the history of our country especially during times like this where
Filipino’s themselves have their identity dwindling
b. Why do we need to study the Rizal law?
- As according to republic act of 1425 that made it compulsory for college and
university students to study Rizal’s life and works. It is important for us to study it
so that we can ourselves learn about his idea’s, thoughts, and life values that he
already has at a young age specifically my age, it is also important to understand
the discipline and behavior he had that lead him to becoming such a refined
smart man even though he doesn’t have many opportunities like us that like
being already being spoon-fed to us.
c. What can you benefit from studying Jose Rizal’s life and works?
- To wake our own heart especially those who is said to be the future of our
nation. To realize that Rizal manage to do things without internet and some
techs. And to realize his passion to do something even though he had the
opportunity to just leave the country and live his own life.

3. Why did Rizal consider Cervantes “the best writer of art and virtue” in his literary
piece, “the Council of the Gods (El Consejo del los Dioses)?” justify your answer in no
more than 3 sentences.
- Because he sees Cervantes as someone with a strong human passion and is true
to his works and his purpose.

4. What drove the Filipino’s to actively pursue Rizal’s works in their quest for national
identity? Justify your answer in no more than three (3) sentences.
- Rizal, someone who fought with a pen not using a rifle nor a sword but
nevertheless is skilled with it still chose to use his knowledge and his pen. And
with that pen he strokes a hundred of Filipinos to fight for their own freedom
and motherland. In this way he made even the future generation think they have
to prove something that they have to be something in this era of opportunities.
