Activity 2
CAREER ORWillLOVE?
I Report My Client or Not?

A FALLACY ON THE COUNSELING CODE OF

I don’t really have any insights when it comes to
actually falling in love. I, personally have never been
romantically involved in love to a certain extent that may
agitate my sensibility. However, I have faith that my
rationality would consider various perspectives in this
scenario and for me, the most reasonable thing to do
would be, to understand that there is a right time for
everything. If it truly is love, it can wait.
These days, love is not enough for a
relationship to prosper. That being
said, as a counselor, I would be more
attentive with my responsibilities and
be more ethically aware of my
profession rather than impulsively
giving everything up for someone I
value.– Rizian Balleta, G-12 HUMSS A

ASSESSMENT
Essay:
1. Explain what you have learned about the roles and functions of counselors in 300 words. Relate
it with your daily life.
There is a lot of ways that an individual can assess, approach, and develop the needs of the
clients. That is the one of the most substantial ideas that I have humbly learned from the roles and
functions of counselors. Counselors effort to establish a structure that aims to assist their client in the
hopes of bringing them towards the path of resolution. It is an act of empathy and willingness in trying to
comprehend other individual’s struggles. Counseling has been looked upon as a very fundamental job in
all aspects of life. They can be significant for, career assistance, referral, consultations, evaluations,
researches, accountability, and many more. It is an applied social science that highlights the use of the
different concepts, theoretical models, and theories of this discipline in helping understand the different
problems and issues within every story and journey of everyone in society.
To be frank, at first, I was prejudiced on counseling as I figured that it would be quite an easy yet
uninteresting job. However, with all that I have learned about the concept of counseling, I truly am
convinced that it is not, in any way, an undemanding profession. The ability to understand and work
within social systems are boundless skills of patience and virtue. Counselors hold on to open-mindedness
and learning which is not something that an individual can just hastily learn. It is, in all honesty, a matter
of having a righteous heart and a healthy mind. Counseling courageously calls for genuine integrity. It
calls for objectivity and unbiased impartiality. It provides bravery in facing a lot of our quandaries that
may be too much for our day to day lives. It is indeed, a career that promotes caring for other people, and
that is undeniably what the world needs right now.

2. What careers opportunities and areas of specialization of counselor?

The art of counseling can introduce an individual to a diverse variety of paths that uphold various
frameworks of understanding and psychological means of service. Counseling as a profession has its
place in many fields, it can offer career opportunities such as, Marriage and Family Counseling, Child
and Adolescent Counseling, Group Counseling, Career Counseling, School Counseling, and Mental
Health Counseling. Counseling is a helping profession and it is a kind of career that is centered on giving
guidance and managing life.

3. If you are given a chance to become a counselor are you going to grab it? Why or Why not.
Come to think of it, as I venture upon the concept of counseling as a profession, I continue to
develop a certain grasp of the depth of its values, rights, and responsibilities in its creative process. I
honor counseling as a profession however, I do feel like that there are more job opportunities that are
more suitable for my skill set. So, for now, I would have to say, no.
