1- Define Philosophy of Education and explain how it influences curriculum workers? The area of practical philosophy known as philosophy of education is focused on the nature of education as well as any potential philosophical ramifications of educational theory and practice. Influences curriculum workers because it supports educators' thinking, reasoning, and belief formation as well as their value assessment. A comprehensive perspective is developed via philosophy, and it also aids in addressing questions such as why schools exist, which topics are crucial, how students should be taught, and the best resources and teaching techniques. 2- Explain why some authors understand that Philosophy is a Curriculum source: Since philosophy considers the requirements of children, the environment, schools, and society as a whole, it serves as the foundation for developing curricula. As a result, philosophy starts to influence how curricula are developed. Giving educators a philosophical and deep thinking about education and its needs. 3- Define and explain the differences between Perennialism, Essentialism, Progressivism, and Reconstructionism? -Perennialism: Is a teacher-centered educational ideology called perennialism because it emphasizes unchanging principles and universal truths. -Essentialism: An educational philosophy that states that everyone should learn the same concepts and practical skills using tried and true techniques. -Progressivism: Progressivism is a way of thinking that holds that it is possible through political action for human societies to improve over time. -Reconstructionism: In order to improve society and advance global democracy, social reconstructionism places a strong emphasis on tackling social issues. The curriculum of reconstructionist educators places a strong emphasis on social transformation as the ultimate goal of education. 4- Which of the Educational Philosophies defined in the previous question do you understand influence the Dominican Curriculum and why? From my point of view, I truly believe that reconstructionism is the main educational philosophy which influences the Dominican curriculum because one of the main goals that our curriculum is looking to achieve is improving society through education.
