1) WHAT IS PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT?


 is the process to which the organization and individual engage in the process of
learning to meet the challenges and desire goal.
 it refers to developing and improving skills to better meet the needs of every
individual.

2) DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
 Personal development and professional development have differences but also
similarities and it’s easy to get confused between them when you are looking to
further your skills.
 Personal Development - involves improving your skills, knowledge, talents and
potential, both in and out of the workplace to help you achieve results both in work
and life. A common way to think about personal development is to consider “people
skills” or “social skills” linked to the personal qualities that make up a person’s
emotional intelligence.
 Professional Development - involves developing yourself in your role to entirely
understand the job you do and how you can improve. It involves enhancing the
necessary skills to carry out your role as effectively as possible and is linked to
continuous professional development, something which should be maintained
throughout your career. In simple terms, professional development is focused on the
workplace and the skills needed to do your job. Personal development is more focused
on communications and time management.

3) 5 ASPECTS OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:


 Social Aspect - is all about the activities relating or involving the people in the
society. This contributes to the personal development of an individual because one
can be able to effectively communicate with others and this means that every
individual is willing to interact with others to be socially successful. 
 Physical Aspect – this all about the state of health, the qualities, actions, and things
that are connected to a person’s body. This aspect helps an individual to become
healthy and be able to perform the tasks given to them for their everyday life and
become physically successful.
 Emotional Aspect - is all about the emotions and feelings of every individual. This
concerns to the personal development of a person for it can be a guide not to let one’s
emotions control them. If you are emotionally strong, you can be able to understand
things well that are present in all areas of your life. 
 Mental Aspect - This aspect greatly affects your relationship with the people around
you. You should be mentally strong to know your capacity to learn things and be able
to know when to alter your reactions and emotions. 
 Spiritual Aspect - this aspect is a great contribution to your personal development.
By this, you are creating a deeper connection to the world that surrounds you. This
helps you learn about yourself more and what you really want to become in your life.
Strengthen your spiritual aspect for it will guide you in developing and molding all
the areas of your personal development.

4) WHY IS PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IMPORTANT?


 The aim of personal and professional development is to help you manage your own
learning and growth throughout your career. It is important that you continue to learn
and develop to keep your skills and knowledge up to date and ensure you continue to
work safely, legally and effectively.

5) EXAMPLES OF PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

 There are many goals you could set to begin a Personal Development plan. Consider
choosing one of these common personal development goals:
 Improve your time management
- Time management skills can increase your productivity and efficiency.
 Develop emotional intelligence
- Emotional intelligence describes your control over your emotions and your level of
empathy. Developing this skill can make you a better communicator with your
colleagues. 
 Cultivate resilience
- A resilient individual moves on from difficult situations quickly. Resilience can be a
great fit as a personal development goal because it keeps you moving forward
regardless of denials, rejections and pushback.
 Listen actively
- An active listener assimilates what they have heard and considers that information
carefully before providing a response or taking any action. 
 Develop a growth mindset
- A growth mindset is a way of thinking that upholds hard work and dedication as the
keys to success and improvement. With it, you are resilient and see failures as
learning opportunities. 
 Develop a reading habit
- Reading more is a great personal development goal because it has many benefits,
including that it is a means of education.
 Learn new things
- Committing to learning new things is a key step in personal development. 
 Improve your public speaking skills
- A good public speaker is clear, confident and engaging. Public speaking is important
to the workplace because you may have to address your team in a briefing, deliver a
presentation to the board or pitch to prospective clients.

- Making new business contacts is a great way to build a network and expand the
opportunities available to you in your industry. Creating new relationships can also
result in opportunities for you to share your ideas with others and learn from them.

- Stay current with the latest developments, skills, and new technologies
required for their fields. 
 Participation in professional organizations
- Attending local, regional and national meetings, conferences and workshops
sponsored by professional organizations.

- to identify or describe a concept or to explain or predict a situation or solution
to a situation that indicates the type of study to be conducted.

- Improving existing skills and learnings about new developments in your field.
 Increased duties and responsibilities
- Taking on new challenges in current position, projects, long or short-term
assignments.
