Agenda item 3

ROUTEING OF SHIPS, SHIP REPORTING AND RELATED MATTERS

(INCLUDING VOYAGE PLANNING)

Measures to be taken in routeing of ships in ports and areas of congestion

along the coast of Peru to increase navigational safety

Submitted by Peru

SUMMARY
Executive summary: This document contains a sketch-map showing the location of traffic
separation schemes, four HIDRONAV marine charts where the traffic
separation schemes will operate, four descriptions of the traffic separation
schemes, four chartlets of traffic separation schemes, four tables of the
dangers to navigation in areas bordering on the traffic zone and four
beaconing layouts in areas of the traffic zone along the coast of Peru.
Action to be taken: Paragraph 2

1 In this document, the Government of Peru submits its traffic routeing system along the coast of
Peru. The system is based on existing hydrographic data and the study carried out by the maritime
authorities to control shipping so as to increase navigational safety in the area of convergence and other
areas where there is a high traffic density or where freedom of movement is reduced by restricted space,
obstacles to navigation, shallows or weather conditions.

Action requested of the Sub-Committee

2 The Government of Peru submits this proposal with the request that the Sub-Committee examine
it and approve it.

For reasons of economy, this document is printed in a limited number. Delegates are
kindly asked to bring their copies to meetings and not to request additional copies.
