CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

The Introduction is a key paragraph for both readers and writers—first impressions
matter. The reader will be more inclined to read a paper and consider a position if the
initial paragraph is clear, organized, and engaging. A carefully crafted first paragraph acts
as a springboard for the writer, establishing the order and direction for the entire paper.
The form and content of an introduction depend upon many factors, including the
specifics of the assignment, the intended audience, the style of the discipline, and your
professor's expectations. In general, your Introduction should capture the reader's
attention and provide essential context for your topic.

In the succeeding paragraphs, there should be no indentations, and paragraphs are

justified with left alignment. Delete this highlighted section and replace it with your
Introduction.

Background of the Study

The Background presents the 'big picture,' identifying the context of the problem to be
investigated. It sets the stage for the relevance and purpose of the study. The Background
serves to underscore why your study should be done in the context of previous studies. It
uncovers a problem or issue where further research is required. It expands on the
statement, "While studies have shown . . . there is a need to . . ." The background section
– and more broadly, the whole of your study – is guided by the purpose of your research,
identifying what you, the researcher, hope to discover.

In the succeeding paragraphs, there should be no indentations, and paragraphs are

justified with left alignment. Delete this highlighted section and replace it with your
Background of the study.

Research Questions

These are the questions your research will try to address. Avoid using research questions
that have a "yes" or "no" answer. Questions should be specific and should give a clear
indication of how they might be answered or accomplished.

Delete this highlighted section and replace it with your research questions.

Significance of the Study

The significance of the study describes the importance of the study. It aims to answer
these questions:

• Elaborate on how the research will be of importance and how it will help
improve practice. Who will it help, and how? Will it provide a stepping-stone
for others to go further?

• What benefits would occur if definitive answers were found to the research
question?

The number of specific objectives should be enough to cover the whole study. The
importance of the study is enumerated starting with number one (1).

1. Objective number 1;

2. Objective number 2; and

3. Last objective. Delete this highlighted section and replace it with your objectives

Scope and Limitations

The scope of a study explains how the research area will be explored and specifies the
parameters within which the study will be operating. Limitations identify potential
weaknesses of the study from sources that are outside of the control of the researcher.
Limitations are restrictions on the extent or type of available data. Limitations may also
restrict the generalizability of findings.

Delete this highlighted section and replace it with the scope and limitations of your study.

CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Nowadays, most Filipinos shop outside of their homes for quick-meal and easy-to-cook
food items, and some of us also routinely shop at convenience stores for these items.
Some of the reasons are that quick meal products are less expensive, easier to prepare,
and more readily available. Another major reason consumers buy quick meal products is
that they are more nutritious and fresher. Industry of Philippine fast foods: Keeping up
with the ever-changing way of life. Quick service restaurants, also known as fast food
restaurants, have been around since 1921.

According to (Direct Mail Proportions Fast Food Companies,2018) that many children
are patronizing fast food chains, and fast-food brands constantly create new ways to
promote their restaurants to youngsters. Children spend their time on playing on
computers, surfing the web, listening to music, and playing games. Fast food restaurants
such as McDonald's, Burger King, Jollibee, and others designed "advergames," which are
online games children can play while there are advertisement popping in their computers
from different companies. In that way it helps the food businesses to have many young
customers. The fast-food chain must always consider the affordability of their products
and put consideration of the consumers capability in buying their products and services.
According to Pilon (2014), that 32% of people choose a place to eat where itis cheap and
31% of people eat in a fast-food chain for convenience. There are students who have high
allowance which in the study of Dumlao (2014), it was mentioned that the students with
higher daily allowance have the possibility of choosing other place to eat other than their
school canteen. According to Mc Neill (2017), that different grade level of students is
always on the move due to their busy schedules, so many of them make fast food the way
to go. With many fast-food restaurants located in the area, fast food tends to be the
simplest and most convenient way to get food. According to Jagadish C Das (2015), there
is a decrease in percentage of energy intake from foods consumed at home, whereas the
proportion of energy intake from restaurant food and fast food increased over time. Grade
level students spend most of the time away from home by attending tuition classes after

school hours. Grade level students take breakfast at home and fast food in school or
outside school. A positive correlation of increased fast-food consumption and increased
body mass index was found among adolescents. Socio economic status is an important
factor related to fast food consumption.

despite their better nutritional knowledge. In this research, the effect of gender on fast-
food consumption has been studied to determine fast-food consumption. Complying
hygiene rules, the need of being informed about food security, being affected by
commercials, food poisoning and their action to it, and not consuming fast-food has been
found. Fast-food type nutrition which is popular among children and teenagers contains
deficient or excess nutrients. High schools and universities are appropriate establishments
for students to gain correct nutritional habits. This research has been planned to
determine fast-food preferences of different gender. According to Song (2016), rates of
overweight and obesity are high, and the prevalence of obesity has continued to rise over
the past few decades. Excessive consumption of fast food has been one of the multiple
contributing factors driving the Overweight and obese epidemic. This literature review
summarizes the disadvantages of fast food on people's health, reveals common people's
average fast-food consumption.
