ALL ABOUT EWC’S NATIONAL WRITING COMPETITION 2022

PREFACE
National Writing Competition is a writing competition held by the division of English Writing
Community (EWC) in English Students’ Association (ESA) Faculty of Language and
Literature Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. This competition is held to motivate
participants to write a fiction work and improve their writing skill in English.

PARTICIPANT
National Writing Competition 2022 is open for public, minimum age of 10th grade high school
students. The winners consist of first and second winners.

GENERAL RULES
1. Each participant must submit their work in the submission period; Friday,
September 30th 2022 - Friday, October 14th 2022. Works submitted earlier or later
than mentioned dates will be disqualified.
2. Jury will decide who will be the first and second winner and it will be announced on
October 21st 2021.
3. Any plagiarism is not allowed and may result in disqualification.
4. The committees do not compromise with all kinds of mistakes made by the
participant.
5. The participants should honor and appreciate the jury's judgement.

SPECIFIC RULES
Story must be submitted through ewc.esa.upi@gmail.com as follows.
1. Attach the story file in the email. Do not copy-paste it to the email’s body.
2. Write “NWC22 – (NAME) – (STORY TITLE)” as the subject (ex: NWC22 – JAZZY –
IN ANOTHER LIFE).
3. Type your full name, phone number, and Instagram account on the email body so the
committee can contact you if your story is chosen as the winner.

 4. After sending your story, kindly confirm your participation to our contact person
through WhatsApp. There is no format required, but make sure you mention your
email, name, and story title.

PROVISION OF NATIONAL WRITING COMPETITION

The writing must be typed as follows.
1. The text must be written in English.
2. The work must be an original which has never been published before.
3. Follows the competition theme, ‘Coming of Age and Angst’.
4. Below is the format of the text.
Font : Times New Roman
Font Size : 12
Line Spacing : 1,5 lines
Margin : Standard
Word count : 1.500 - 2.000 words

THEMES OF NATIONAL WRITING COMPETITION

Themes are Coming of Age and Angst. The story must include both of those themes. The
theme outside the theme determined by the committee would not be taken.

ASSESSMENTS OF SCORING
The assessments of scoring are based on three categories: content and theme, grammar, and
diction.

RULES APPLICABILITY
These rules are applied to all participants of the National Writing Competition 2022. These
rules may not be supplanted or modified except by the authorized committee. All participants
should obey the rules determined by the committee.
