SCENE 4: JOURNEY INTO THE DESERT

(Curtains open, the stage background changes from market becomes dessert with
huge cave on the left side of the background. Lights on.)

(JAFAR, ALADDIN: and IAGO enters the stage from the right, ALADDIN: follows
JAFAR on the stage. IAGO trails behind. They walk slowly towards to the middle of the
stage while talking along the journey.)

ALADDIN:

(to JAFAR, confused) So, What’s your name come again?

JAFAR.

The name’s Jafar, kid.

ALADDIN:

Right. Mr. Jafar. Where are actually we heading to? Should I be worried?

JAFAR:

No, no, no, kid. Don’t worry. Remember, I helped you earlier so I want you to help me
as a sign of gratitude.

(Aladdin become silent for a while)

JAFAR:

Plus, you are the perfect guy to help me solve my problem. I see your potential just
now. You are really good for stealing the apples and secretly met the princess.

 ALADDIN:

What? No! I’m not! I’m just--

(IAGO shut Aladdin’s mouth with his wing)

JAFAR:

(turns to ALADDIN: while smiling sinisterly) Don’t lie, young man. We almost there.

(ALADDIN, JAFAR and IAGO then become silent for a while slowly approaching the
left side of the background)

(Once approaching the picture of cave, they stopped)

JAFAR

(smiles) Finally, we have arrived. The Cave of Wonders!

ALADDIN:

(amazed) What is this place? Look scary and abandoned. So, Mr. Jafar? What we
supposed to do here?

JAFAR:

(smiles) Well, young boy. I want you to take a magic lamp inside the cave. That’s all. I
tried to pick the lamp up after discovering it but I don’t have enough strength to pull it
out. The lamp is stuck there and that’s why I bring you here help me get it.

ALADDIN:

(hesitates) I see. Well, uhm…

JAFAR:

(comes closer to ALADDIN while holding his shoulder) Look, kid. I chose you because
you’re nimble… stealthy… skilled. Instead of thieving, wouldn’t you like to use your
talents to help people like me and make a name for yourself? Make something that
would make any mother proud, wouldn’t you?

ALADDIN:

(nods) Okay. But what will do I get if I help you? And why do you want the lamp
anyway?

JAFAR:

Nothing personal. Just I want it for my next research since the lamp is undiscovered
yet.

(JAFAR brings out two bags of gold coins. from his pocket)

JAFAR:

And if you manage to get me the lamp, I will pay you with not a bag of gold coins, but
two bags of gold coins. (smiles)

(JAFAR takes out a gold coin and tossed it to ALADDIN. ALADDIN catches the coins
with his hands.)

ALADDIN looks at the coin and bites it, wondering the coin is fake or not. The coin is
indeed made from pure gold. ALADDIN then becomes impressed, then smiled.)

JAFAR:

I know you want these gold coins, right?

(JAFAR shakes the bags of gold coins)

JAFAR:

So, do we have a deal, kid?

ALADDIN:

(hesitates) I don’t know. But I really want these coins now badly. Well, the task is safe
and not that hard, right?

JAFAR:

Kid, I had entered this place, kid. I saw no man inside and during my walk to the
market, I visited here once again, and still, nobody inside. Plus, this place is not
discover so people doesn’t know about the cave yet.

(ALADDIN becomes silent, JAFAR places his hand on ALADDIN ‘s shoulder again)

 JAFAR:

(smile sinisterly) Besides, I believe in the market you want to impress that princess
earlier, don’t ya?

(IAGO squacks)

ALADDIN:

(remembers JASMINE) I’ll do it.

JAFAR:

Brilliant! Now, kid. Enter the cave and bring me the lamp! (laughs)

(Aladdin approaches to the picture of the cave and runs, leaving the stage)

(Lights off, the curtain closed)

SCENE 5: ENTERING THE CAVE OF WONDERS

(Curtains open once again, the stage background changes from the dessert becomes
the cave wall)

(The staffs locate the props, a big rock statue with a magic lamp on the top of it and
some prop treasures on the middle of the stage)

(Lights on. ALADDIN suddenly appears and slowly walking from the right side of the
stage)

CAVE OF WONDERS

(shouts) Who dare disturbs my sleep?!

(Lights goes red and flickering for a moment)

ALADDIN:

Uh, it is I... ALADDIN!

CAVE OF WONDERS

I see. And I sense something. It seems you are the Diamond in the Rough – the one
whose worth lies deep within. You may enter.

 (ALADIN smiles)

JAFAR

(shouts) Now, fetch me the lamp! And do not touch anything!

ALADDIN:

Right, the lamp. Alright, Here goes nothing...

IAGO

Squack! Good luuu-uuck!

JAFAR:

At last!

(JAFAR and IAGO begin their devious laughter. )

SCENE 6: GETTING THE MAGIC LAMP

(Inside the cave, ALADDIN is stunned and amazed, starts roaming around the stage)

ALADDIN:

Whoa! Would you look at all this treasure! Okay, if I were a lamp, were

would I…

(sees the lamp)

That couldn’t be it.

(shouts toward the right side of the stages)

There’s a lamp down here, but it’s not much to look at!

(JAFAR AND IAGO appear and stand on the left corner of the stage)

JAFAR:

That’s it! Bring it to me now!

ALADDIN:

 (gingerly lifting the lamp)

All right, I’ve got it.

(suddenly sees a necklace)

Egyptian jade… fit for a princess.

SCENE 7 : THE CAVE IS COLLAPSING

(The lights suddenly become red and flickering a lot)

CAVE OF WONDERS

You have touched the forbidden treasures!

ALADDIN:

(stepping back)

I wasn’t going to take it!

CAVE OF WONDERS

You shall never see the light of day again!

(The lights later turns off symbolizes the cave entrance collapses)

ALADDIN, JAFAR, IAGO

 (shout) Noooooo!

(ALADDIN lays down on the stage, a light come up dimly on ALADDIN.)

(Fog machine turns on)

ALADDIN:

(rubs his head) Oh, my head.

(coughes and panicked) Oh no, I’m stuck!

(ALADDIN starts roaming around, panicking)

ALADDIN:

(shouts) Hello?! Help! Anybody?! Hello?!

(ALADDIN stares at the magic lamp and grabs it)

ALADDIN:

(to lamp) What’s so great about this thing anyway?
