Animal Farm
by George Orwell

One of my favourite books is called Animal Farm. It’s by the author George Orwell and it’s a story
about some animals that live on a farm.
The owner of the farm is called Mr Jones and he is a nasty man. He bullies the animals and they
are frightened of him. He doesn’t give them enough food and they are always hungry.
One day, the oldest pig, Old Major, talks to the animals about having a better life. After he dies,
the animals get rid of Mr Jones. They make their own government and write new laws. They paint
them on the farm walls for all the animals to follow.
In the beginning, the animals are very happy, but then the pigs become really mean and start
controlling everything on the farm. They take the food for themselves and don’t allow the other
animals to eat it. The pigs don’t like working and make the other animals do all the work on the
farm. They have become exactly like Mr Jones!
I really enjoyed the book. It is a fantasy but it feels like a true story because the animals are like
real people. It’s a great book and I would recommend it.
