☠ ALL ABOUT “가주어”


☹ Concept
문장의 주어로 to 부정사가 올 경우, to 부정사를 뒤로 보내고 주어 자리에는 it을 적는다. 이때 사용된 it을 자리만 채
워둔 가짜 주어라 하여 가주어라 부르고 뒤로 보낸 to 부정사가 진짜 주어이기에 진주어라고 부른다.
it에 대한 해석은 하지 않고 to 부정사 부분을 주어로 해석해야 한다.
It (be) 형용사 to V의 형태에서 형용사는 해당 문장의 “보어”이다.

☹ To write a poem is difficult.


-> It<가주어> is difficult to write<진주어> a poem.
-> 시를 쓰는 것은 어렵다.

<주의사항>
it은 가주어만으로 사용되는 것이 절대 아니고 그 쓰임은 매우 많기에 해당 문장에서 사용된 it이 어떤 it인지 확인을 잘 하는 것이 포인트입니다.

☹ 의미상의 주어 [of / for]


가주어 진주어에서 진주어는 to V인데 해당 주어는 행위를 주어로 표현한 것이다. 그렇다면 그 행위는 누가 하는
것인가? 중요하지 않거나 특정 누군가가 하는 것이 아닌 일반적인 사항일 때는 행위자에 대한 정보가 빠지는
것이 일반적인데 행위자가 누구인지 밝혀야 할 때는 진주어 앞에 <of + 목적격> 또는 <for + 목적격>을 써서
행위자를 나타낸다.
of와 for의 기준은 보어에 해당하는 형용사의 성질이 사람의 성격을 나타내면 of / 일반적인 특징이면 for를 쓴다.

- It is impossible for them to finish it in time.


: impossible이 사람의 성격은 아니기에 for them을 사용했다.

- It is kind of you to invite me for dinner.


: kind는 해당 문장에서 “친절한”이란 의미로 사람의 성격을 나타내므로 of를 사용했다.

☹ Concept
의문사가 이끄는 절이 다른 문장의 일부가 되어 문장 내에서 주어, 목적어, 보어 역할을 하는 명사절로 쓰일 때 이것
을 간접의문문이라고 한다. 의문사가 있는 직접의문문은 <의문사 + 동사 + 주어>의 어순이지만, 의문사가 이끄는 절
이 다른 문장의 일부가 될 때, 그러니깐 간접의문문의 어순은 <의문사 + 주어 + 동사>이다.

We don’t know when she left.

Do you know where Snow White is?

I don’t know where Mark lives.

Do you know how often the bus comes?

I wonder if Jessica will be here.

1. 의문사가 있는 간접의문문: 의문사 + 주어 + 동사


- Do you know? + When does the cafe close?
→ Do you know when the cafe closes?

① 의문사가 주어일 경우 「의문사 + 동사」의 어순으로 쓴다.


- I wonder. + Who wrote this letter?
→ I wonder who wrote this letter.

② 의문사가 하나의 단어가 아니라 how much, how often, what time 등과 같이 구로 올 경우 하나의
의문사로 취급한다.
- Can you tell me? + How much is the concert ticket?
→ Can you tell me how much the concert ticket is?

2. 의문사가 없는 간접의문문: if[whether] + 주어 + 동사

There is no place like Gangwon-do for beautiful nature.

First, we went to Baengnyong Cave. This 1.8-kilometer-long cave is still in good condition.

It was so amazing to see its natural beauty.

Near the end of our cave tour, the guide turned off the lights in the cave for a minute.

Everything became very dark, so we were able to focus on the sounds there.

It was the most amazing experience of the tour!

Our next stop was Donggang. We went rafting!

It was exciting to ride on the rough water and enjoy the view at the same time.

Incheon, A City of Firsts


Do you know where the first train station in Korea is?

How about the first Jajangmyeon? The answer is Incheon!

This place has many of Korea’s firsts. To get there, we went to Incheon Station.

The Jajangmyeon Museum is next to the station. We learned about the history of Jajangmyeon there.

Later, we walked around Jayu Park, the first Western-style park in Korea.

The view from the park was awesome!

It was great to see the historical sites of this city from the park.
