Indirect Level Measurement

Hydrostatic Head Pressure Measurement
DP Level Transmitter:
The DP Transmitter device is used to measure level as an inferential measurement. In
a DP Transmitter, the diaphragm senses the head pressure developed by the height of
the material in the vessel.
When a differential pressure transmitter is used to measure the hydrostatic head
pressure measurement, there will be two situations that need to be considered:
 Open tank situation
 Closed tank situation
• Dry Leg: The leg tubing which doesn’t contain any seal fluid is known
to be Dry Leg. Dry leg application is suitable for the liquid which is
easily to vaporize.
• Wet Leg: wet leg application is suitable for the liquid which its vapor is
easily to condensate.
