NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF NUMERACY PRE-ASSESSMENT

INTRODUCTION
The COVID – 19 pandemic has brought extraordinary challenges and has
affected the educational sectors. The Department of Education continues to work
toward achieving its goals for a quality education despite the pandemic. Zero-
Non-Numerates is being implemented by the DepEd CARAGA Region, Division of
Surigao del Sur, with the help of numerous primary and secondary schools.

II.OBJECTIVES
•To determine the numeracy level of Junior High School students.

•To enhance the numeracy level of Junior High School students.

•To enhance Junior High School students’ interest in Mathematics using

different intervention strategies.

III.ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN
• Preparation and Printing of District Unified Pre-Assessment Tool
• Conducted the Pre – Assessment in Numeracy Level to all JHS Grade
Levels
• Constructed Intervention Plan based on the consolidated report in the
Numeracy Level.

V. PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED:
• How can the school provide enrichment activities in the classroom for
students who are ready to think more deeply about the subject matter?

• How can the school provide appropriate activities for the identified low
and non-numerates learners without jeopardizing the quality of
instruction for other students?

VII. CONCLUSION
• The development of numeracy is crucial because it gives students the
foundation they need to acquire and use their skills in practical
settings. The goal of numeracy education is to help learners have a solid
foundation in all facets of Mathematics.
