al Khusus Sawm (The fast of the selecting few or elite)

The prophet(SAW) said many observer of fasting will not receive from his fasting any reward
but the pain of hunger, .

."
:Narrated Abu Huraira
The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said, "Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions,
Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his
fasting.)"
In another hadith by Abu Hurairah (raa), the Prophet (saas) said:
"Fasting is not only to restrain from food and drink, fasting is to refrain from
obscene (acts). If someone ver- bally abuses you or acts ignorantly towards
you, say (to them) 'I am fasting; I am fasting.'" (Ibn Khuzaimah)
Indeed, these two reports imply fasting will not be complete until one observes three
elements:
1. Restraining the stomach and the private parts from the breakers of the fast - food and
drink,
2. restraining the jawarih, the other body parts, which may render the fast worthless
despite the main factors of hunger and thirst; so the tongue, for instance, must avoid
backbiting, slander, and lies; the eyes should avoid looking into things considered by the
Lawgiver as unlawful; the ears must stop from listening to conversations, words, songs,
and lyrics that spoil the spirit of fasting; and,
3. restraining of the heart and mind from indulging themselves in other things besides
dhikir Allah (remembrance of Allah.

The second two puts one the category of Khusus Sawm

The fast of the selecting few or elite

1
Al Ghazali Fasting. The fast of the Chosen or Elite The fast of the chosen. Is to
keep the ears, the eyes, the tongue and hands and the feet as well as the other
senses free from sin.
Imam Mohammed
That is great, great insight and great, great help for teachers and also for us to get our
people to come back to life, come back to their hearing to the good condition of their
five senses.

The first thing is to refrain from looking at anything

blameworthy and disapproved, or anything which occupies
the person and diverts him from remembering Allah.
They say the eyes are the windows to the soul
Sight is the directed passage way to the heart, and it delivers
desires to the heart.

vision and guard their private part.
Chapter (24) sūrat l-nūr (The Light)

The verse indicates that the first look, being unintended, is not the one that is
meant to be controlled. But the focus is the second one
2
The Prophet Muhammad said “The first look must not be followed by
the second; the first one is for you but the second on is not.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (‫ )ﷺ‬as saying. Allah

fixed the very portion of adultery which a man will indulge in.
There would be no escape from it. The adultery of the eye is the
lustful look

immorality and is evil as a way.

Living in this society where modesty is not

promoted, makes it difficult to withhold the
temptation that are out there unless they
guard their sight. Elaborate! We see on tv,
we see in when go out to public places.
Women are dress very provocative.

What helps with lower your sight. Is Marriage and fasting

." ‫ِو َجا ٌء‬
It was Narrated by Abdullah that

We were with the Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬while we were young

and had no wealth whatever. So Allah's Messenger (
‫ )ﷺ‬said, "O young people! Whoever among you can
marry, should marry, because it helps him lower his
gaze and guard his modesty (i.e. his private parts
from committing illegal sexual intercourse etc.), and
whoever is not able to marry, should fast, as fasting
diminishes his sexual power."
He also said if you see attractive women go home to your
wife a have relations or sex.

Lowering the gaze is considered a great mercy from Allah, not to restrict a
person’s freedom or to prohibit one from enjoying life. But it is to promote
haya (modesty) and social peace

The Prophet said “The one who lowers his gaze from a
woman Allah shall put in his heart sweetness until the
day he meets Him!
Mu’awiyah ibn Jaydah reported: The Messenger of Allah,
peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Three eyes will
never see the Hellfire, an eye standing guard in the
way of Allah, an eye weeping from the fear of Allah,

5
and an eye lowering its gaze from what Allah has
forbidden.”

So know that when you are lowering your gaze Allah will reward you
for that. Ihtisab
al Khusus Sawm (The fast of the selecting few or elite)

The second is to keep the tongue free from lying, backbiting, slander
foul speech.

49:12

‫َواَل َي ْغتَب‬
Sahih International:. And do not backbite each other.

SO what is backbitting

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said, "Do you know what is
backbiting?" The Companions said: "Allah and His Messenger
know better." Thereupon he said, "Backbiting is talking about your
(Muslim) brother in a manner which he dislikes." It was said to
him: "What if my (Muslim) brother is as I say." He said, "If he is
actually as you say, then that is backbiting; but if that is not in him,
that is slandering."

6
Controlling the tongue restrain the tongue is very
important it will determine if your receive reward or
punishment in this life and the hereafter (next life)
.Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said, "When the son of Adam gets up in the morning, all
the limbs humble themselves before the tongue and say: 'Fear Allah
for our sake because we are with you: (i.e., we will be rewarded or
punished as a result of what you do) if you are straight, we will be
straight; and if you are crooked, we will become crooked."'

49:12

The Prophet Muhammad said:

"DO you know who the bankrupt is?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah! The bankrupt

among us is the one who has no Dirham nor property." The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w)

said: "The bankrupt in my Ummah is the one who comes with Salat and fasting

and Zakat on the Day of Judgement, but he insulted this one, slander that one,

wrongfully consuming the wealth of this one, spilling the blood of that one, and beating

this one. SO some of his good deeds will be given to this one and some to that one.

And if his good deeds run out before all the victims have been compensated, then some

of their sins will be taken and added to his, then he will be thrown into hell.

The true Muslim or believer is accountable for every word that he

utters.

Sahih International: Man does not utter any word except that with him is
an observer prepared [to record].

Remembering that everything that will say will be recorded, can

help to maintain stable conversations that are free free from lying,
backbiting and foul speech
The Prophet Muhammad said

ْ ‫َو ْال َي ْو ِم اآل ِخ ِر َف ْل َيقُ ْل َخيْرً ا َأ ْو لِ َيسْ ُك‬

."‫ت‬

And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then let him say
what is good or keep silent (taciturn)."

Imaam Ash-Shaafi'ee (rahimahullaah) said: "When one desires to talk, then

it is upon him to think before he speaks. If there is beneficial good in what
he will say, then he should speak. And if he has doubt about that, then he
must not speak until he clears that doubt(this make his speech good)."

The believer speech

Chapter (33) sūrat l-aḥ zāb (The Combined Forces) 33:70

8
Muhammad Sarwar: Believers, have fear of God and speak righteous
words.

Sahih International: And tell My servants to say that which is best.

The is concession to the rules

Talking about someone is allow if you trying
to safeguard the person or the community

Some situations allow us to inform others of what

someone has done. It is allowed for us to inform the
authorities when someone does injustice to us or
others. It is allowed for us to inform someone who
can help a perpetrator from committing further
crimes. It is also permissible for us to tell whoever
seeks our advice on a person for business dealings
or marriage. In this case it is not allowed for us to hide

Lastly
The Prophet Muhammad.

"Who protects his tongue from unlawful utterances and his private parts from

illegal sexual intercourse; I shall guarantee him entrance into Paradise."

9
Our tongues should be in the remembrance and glorification of Allah and engaged
in reading of the Quran.

2nd part

The third is to close the ears to everything that is Haram (unlawful)

So that means to reframe from listen to backbiting and Laghwa (Idle

talk, vain talk, frivolous speech
88:11

Sahih International: Wherein they will hear no vain talk

Closing one's ears to everything shameful; for everything

unlawful to say is likewise unlawful to listen to. That is why
Allah He, equated the eavesdropper with the profiteer, in His
words, Exalted is He:

That is why the Prophet, on him be peace, said: 'The backbiter
and his listener are copartners in sin.
Know
Thus, it is obligatory on the one who hears an individual embarking on committing the
prohibited form of backbiting, to forbid him from doing it as long as he does not fear any open
harm resulting from that. But if he does fear (harm) from that, then he is obligated to reject
the backbiting with his heart and to detach himself from that gathering if he is able to do
so. If he has the ability to reject it with his tongue or to cut the backbiting off by
changing the topic, then that becomes required of him.

Laghwa 25:72 88:11 31:6

The Prophet Muhammad said

Whoever defends the honour of his brother from slander, it will be his right that Allah will
defend him from the fire

But to listen to the qur’an being recited.

The prophet(SAW) he said
Read the Qur’an and weep. If you do not weep
naturally, force yourselves to weep.

11
The fourth is to restrain the hand from reaching evil and the foot
from going into unlawful places.

Sahih International: And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what

your hands have earned; but He pardons much.

Pickthall: Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands

have earned. And He forgiveth much.

Yusuf Ali: Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things

your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness.

Keeping your hands and feet from doing haram

Elaborate

1.Reaching Lottery tickets, walking into the sweepstakes parlor or

casino

2.Reaching for that cigarette, liquor walking into the ABC store

3. Abusing you wife or your husband with your hands

4.Walking into that night club

Reach for that pork chop (Joke, Even if a Muslim is do haram thing one
Haram thing that he/she will not do is eat pork)

Everything that we do with a limbs on the Day Judgement our limbs will speak
out against us. So we can say like Christians say “my flesh made me
do it”
12
Chapter (36) sūrat yā sīn 36:65

Sahih International: That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their
hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.

Chapter (41) sūrat fuṣṣilat (Explained in Detail)

41:20

Sahih International: Until, when they reach it, their hearing and their eyes
and their skins will testify against them of what they used to do.

Chapter (41) sūrat fuṣṣilat (Explained in Detail)

Sahih International: And they will say to their skins, "Why have you

the tongue is licentious speech and the adultery of the
