Srat Lesson
Srat Lesson
Universal Design Plickers are an excellent activity for all students regardless of skill level and
Rationale abilities of the students.
Lesson Idea - Prior Before the SRAT portion of the lesson, I will talk about ways that data ethics
can be violated, and different grey areas within data ethics. I will then have an
activity where students will argue with each other about whether something is
ethical or unethical
SRAT Purpose There really are no wrong answers when it comes to data ethics. This will be
more of an activity to keep the students engaged and talking about what
makes an experiment ethical or not. While certain vocabulary questions will
have definite concrete answers, most questions will be theoretical in nature.
Question Types Multiple Choice; Multiple Select; True/False; Yes/No;
Lesson Idea - During I expect this activity to last about five minutes per theoretical question. Each
question will have a discussion or more likely an argument after. The debate
time is the most important time in the class
Lesson Idea - After The end of the lesson will be the students acknowledging that there are many
grey areas with data ethics, and as long as an answer can be justified, the
answer can be viewed as correct.
Data Plan The data that I am collecting with this exercise is about the mindset of the
individual students. Are the kids steadfast in their beliefs about ethics, are
there any changes in opinion, is anybody on the fence about what is and is
not ethical?
Personal Learning I am trying with this activity to learn about my students. This activity will give
Goals me a window into their minds and assist me in designing the test for the end
of the unit
Design Reflection This activity should be done in the middle of the unit, but immediately after
introducing the topic of data ethics. I feel like this should not be a game,
instead being a plicker activity, or even a worksheet.
