Learning Objective/s:
Describe the solar system. Explain how heat and light of the Sun helps to sustain life on Earth. Explain
with reasons, that Earth is the only planet where life exists.
Resources
Picture of solar system, you tube videos and blended worksheets.

Starter activities
Brainstorming through asking questions 5 min
Human scale model of the solar system

Learning activities:
KWL chart can be filled by the students for revision of previous concepts Students can
fill in the differentiated activity sheet for checking their understanding of solar system.
Students can fill the Venn diagram worksheet of Sun and Moon in reference to parts of
solar system. Presentation on Solar system can be discussed with the students. Fact 25 min
sheet about planets can be filled by the students.

Whole class discussion and AFL will be taken with the help of two star one wish activity. 5 min

Compare and Contract Students can be given a research task of comparing Earth with
any other planet of their choice and finding out details regarding Population: Amount of
water: Number of plants: Other creatures:
Essay writing (Cross curricular link) Students can be asked to write a short creative
essay on The lonely universe or what if there is life on other planets.

Group discussion on why life exists on earth. Students can fill the Venn diagram
worksheet of Sun and Moon in reference to parts of solar system

Students can attempt the activity of cutting the fact strips about Earth, sun and moon
25 min
and pasting those in the relevant rows

Learning Objective/s:
Describe the physical features of the Earth. Construct a model of landform
Resources
Book, YouTube videos and blended worksheets.
Starter activities
Showing different physical features of earth and asking questions from students to 5 min
gauge prior knowledge.

Learning activities:
Presentation on physical features of Earth can be discussed. Students can attempt
activity sheet of physical features of Earth. Whole class discussion on the term Physical
Features can be held with the students. Pictures of different landforms can be shown to
the students for identification. 25 min

Students can be asked to share the names of landforms they have visited/seen in
Pakistan. They can record the locations of these landforms in Pakistan and what they
saw, felt and experienced.

Google Earth Activity: Recalling of aerial photographs and use of Google Earth for aerial
view of locations can be done. Students can be shown Neelum Valley, Thar Desert,
Manora Beach, Pine forest, Shangrilla lake, Arabian sea, Margalla hills, K2 etc. on
Google Earth. Features and locations of each landform in Pakistan can be discussed.

Plenary
Map of Pakistan can be given to each student with provinces labelled on it. Students 5 min
can draw small pictures of landforms according to their presence in each province of
Pakistan.

Home learning
Video watching as homework: Students can watch the video and fill the grid to record
the names of landforms shown in the videos, how they look, and how the landforms are
formed.
