Day off – the way of spending it.

When we have time for leisure, we usually need something that can interest and
amuse us. There are several ways to do this. In big cities it's often difficult to
decide where to go in the evening.
If we want to go out there are a lot of theatres, cinemas and clubs in our country
where we can spend our free time.
Some people prefer to be in watching TV, listening to music, reading books,
speaking over the phone or just lying on the sofa idling away the time.
People who are interested in sports can join sport sections such as tennis, basket-
boll, chess and others. And, of course, all the people use radio or television.
They switch on the radio set or TV set and choose the programme they like best of
all. People who are interested in sports listen to or watch football and basket-
ball matches.
Well, it is true, that your free time depends on your interests and hobbies. People
who want to achieve something in life, to get a perfect education will spend their
free days reading or visiting some exhibitions, concerts to enrich their inner
world and broaden horizons. Others, less caring about their future life will spend
their free time with friends and going to dance every night. But I think, that here
should be the golden mean.

Tell about your preferences in reading books.

Books play a very important role in my life. I think that modern life is impossible
without reading.
Thanks to reading, I have learn to express my thoughts and feelings more clearly. I
think that reading a book at spare time is a wonderful activity. Besides, books are
rather handy. They are easy to carry, so I always take a book or two when I travel.
I especially like reading on a bus or train. This way time flies like a streak of
lightning.
I like both fiction and non-fiction books, but my favourite genre is detective
stories. This includes Sherlock Holmes books. I started reading books when I was
quite young, about 8 or 9 years old. My first books were fantasy stories and I
really enjoyed them.
I can’t say that I don’t like classical literature. It is also quite good. I
especially like Pushkin’s poems and Gogol’s short stories. Sometimes I also read
various stories in English. If I see an unknown or new word, I check its meaning in
a dictionary.
Educational books are also useful. They help us to prepare for important exams or
tests.
In conclusion, I’d like to add that people who take pleasure in reading should
attend libraries. There are so many interesting books in the world but we can’t buy
all of them. That’s why there are many public libraries in our country.

The most important festivals in the USA.

In the USA, where national holidays and festivals are traditionally celebrated
unanimously and on a grand scale, such wonderful days are hard to miss.

ingredients that turn beer into beer can be found in the backyard of any home. This
is why Portland celebrates the return of spring with the Spring Beer and Wine Fest.

Black Rock Desert in the United States, dreamers come together to transform
lifeless sands into a world of ephemeral, unpredictable future for eight days.
After eight days, only ash will be left of it.
Subtropical Florida is home to one of the quirkiest festivals in the USA. This is a
Fantasy festival. Featuring lots of nude, colorful costumes and body art. It began
when two businessmen decided to revitalize the local tourism industry in Key West.
Zombie fest is it is very scary and strange. The concept of "zombie" in popular
culture means a walking dead man, revived by someone's evil whim, having no will of
his own and only executing orders. As a rule, zombies in a crowd run after people
in the hope of grabbing a piece of them fatter.

The importance of the English language as a means of communication.

I have been studying English at school since the very beginning. When I was 7, of
course I didn’t understand why do I have to study so many difficult and strange
subjects.
After some period of time my family started to travel. I have been to many
countries and cities. What was my surprise when I realized that abroad almost
everyone is able to speak English. For us it is little bit difficult to understand,
but English is a way of communication with different nationalities.
People of different countries and nations have to get along well with the progress
in world trade and technology as well as with each other. So it is very useful to
learn foreign languages. Knowledge of foreign languages helps us to develop
friendship and understanding among people. English is very popular now. It's the
language of computers, science, business, sport and politics. It's spoken all over
the world. It is the official language of the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United
States of America, Canada, Australia. There are more than 750 million speakers of
English in the world.
As you can see many doors are opened in front of us. We just need to put some
efforts to achieve our goals. I think English is the most important key to reach
these goals.
I would advice everyone to study English. It is not easy. You can do it slowly,
every day some new words and phrases. And after couple of years you will see how
much you improved your skills. And after some other years you will see how much
helpful English is for you.
