2. Come up with a six-move structure

Move 1: Introducing the field.

It is an important time in children’s lives because it is when they first learn how
to interact with others, including peers, teachers and parents, and also begin to develop
interests, that will stay with them throughout their lives. She added that it is more than
learning basic skills. Children learn critical social and emotional skill and a partnership is
formed between the child, their parents and the teacher. When this is done
successfully, it lays the groundwork for it to continue throughout the child’s education.

Move 2: Introducing the general topic

Upon entrance to kindergarten (Hammil, 2004), the child’ knowledge of alphabet letter s
is the strongest predictor of early literacy skills and later reading achievement. The practices that
teachers use to support the children’s literacy development in general are predicated on teacher’
beliefs about literacy development consist of the views and knowledge teachers hold about planning,
teaching, and evaluating the skills that children need to develop.

Move 3: Introducing the particular topic

An increasing number of studies demonstrate that alphabet knowledge provides beginning


readers with the knowledge necessary to make connections between the spoken word and it’s print
representation. Moreover, letter name knowledge has been found to influence children’s early spelling
attempts and can make learning to read easier, if the words contain letter-name cues. Additional studies
on pre-readers have also shown evidence of the role that letter names may play in the development or
word knowledge before they have acquired the alphabetic principle. This could be due to the use of the
orthographic cues that letter names generate.

Move 4: Defining the scope of the particular topic

The scope of the study will be the Pre-Kindergateners of the Mariano Marcos state university
center for inclusive Early Childhood Education. Purpose of the study is to explore the subject’s alphabet
knowledge and measure the effectiveness of the said intervention.

Move 5: Preparing for present research

Most of the related articles, both international and local, lack of theories. Thus, a theoretical gap
exists. The researchers aims to apply theories to generate new insights and will extend the previous
researchers.

Move 6: Introducing the particular topic

The aim of this research study is to refine alphabetic knowledge of the Pre-
kindergatners at Mariano Marcos state University. Would like to conduct this study due to poor
alphabetic knowledge of the said subjects.

3. Write the statement of the problem:

This study will aim to refine the alphabetic knowledge of the pre-kindergarteners using
letter blocks.

Specifically, it will seek to answer the following questions:

1. What is the current level of their alphabetic knowledge before the intervention?
2. What is the level of their alphabetic knowledge after the intervention was used?
3. Is there a significant difference in their level of alphabetic knowledge before and after
the intervention?

4. Come up with a significance of study


This study will provide research-based information on refining the alphabetic knowledge
of the Pre-Kindergarteners at Mariano Marcos State University. More specifically, this study will
benefit the following individuals and organizations.

For the students, the direct recipients of the output of this research are the learners in
pre-kindergarten.
