II. BACKGROUND/SITUATION ANALYSIS

Pototan National Comprehensive High School is one of the 14 secondary schools in the
Schools Division of Iloilo which pilot implemented the ALS SHS Program in the region.
There are 57 enrollees who passed the ALS assessment, completed JHS and drop-out of
formal school with 31 learners from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). It
is the objective of PNCHS to provide the need of SHS ALS learners for free transportation,
food, uniform, school supplies.

Moreover, it has been observed that ALS SHS learners are struggling with 95% of them are
financially challenged based on the data available in the profiling of learners. During the ALS
SHS learners dialogue with stakeholders (SB members, PTA, TEA, Brgy.Cau-ayan Council,
SK Federation, and LGU), most of them expressed their real-life challenges which prompted
the proponents to provide their basic needs. The project boils down to the principle that
when learners’ basic needs are provided, they will be inspired and motivated to learn.

With this, ALS SHS teachers agreed during their Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session to find
ways to offer assistance and support through IWAG project (Igniting the Welfare and
Activating Generosity), a joint collaboration of stakeholders to share their blessings to the
ALS SHS learners.
III. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

needs;
