1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the arrival of various electronic gadgets nowadays?

Nowadays, various electronic gadgets are being produced, improved, and utilized by people. We
cannot deny that it plays a significant role in everyone’s daily living, including the youth and the elderly’s.
They tend to bring lots of advantages and disadvantages that affect us.

One of its biggest advantages is that it changes the way we live life; It makes it easier and better.
Our communication with people became much convenient, as we can instantly keep in touch with our
loved ones or any other people by chatting or calling them. Our productivity also increases because of
the use of electronic gadgets. It can also be used to track our progress, in different aspects, in our
everyday living. There are also lots of electronic gadgets associated with music that impacts the way
music is created. And lastly, one of its most significant advantages, it helps to enhance our learning,
listening, speaking, and creativity skills to a great extent.

On the other hand, electronic gadgets do not always come without negative effects, which we
should be aware of. It includes addiction where individuals tend to spend all their time using those
gadgets. It can result in many different problems such as procrastination, poor health, a sedentary
lifestyle, and a lack of interest in day-to-day activities. And even though electronic gadgets make our
communication better, they can also lead us to the point where we don’t feel like interacting with other
people surrounding us. And lastly, their manufacture and disposal also have a significant impact on our
environment. Many consumers are urged to upgrade to new technology even though their current
devices are still in good condition.

These advantages and disadvantages could affect the way we live. That is why we must be aware
of them to take necessary actions and resolutions.

2. What electronic gadgets can you use to create concrete music?

There is a wide variety of electronic gadgets that could be used when creating concrete music. The
concept of concrete music is to utilize various recorded sounds as “raw materials” that are treated in
different ways, such as combining and organizing them all together to create a beautiful piece of music.
We can use anything as long as they are powered by electricity, batteries, solar power, and other energy
sources. Some of this gadgets are microphones, mixing equipment, and even our computers and
phones. Before, particular electronic gadgets are widely used by composers, which brought a significant
impact in the field of music. One of them is a magnetic tape recorder that is utilized for exploring
possibilities in music. Composers also use sound synthesizers, specifically analog and digital synthesizers
capable of producing, altering, or manipulating sounds.
3. If you were a composer today, would you compose concrete music like Varèse did? Why or why not?

If I were a composer today, I would like to compose concrete music like how Varèse did. We all know
that the forms of music nowadays are far different from forms of music developed before. Composing
concrete music like how Varèse did it could bring a much better impact on people. Music is music. Most
people would love a music piece as long as it is arranged beautifully in a way that we can understand
what it is trying to convey. I like Varèse’s musical works as they show how great he is as a composer.
They are fascinating and mysterious, and by listening to them, we will tend to feel lots of emotions. That
is why I think, by using him and his techniques as an inspiration in creating music, I would be able to
impact and satisfy other individuals.
