Activity 3: Do the following


Research five other medicinal plants and describe their uses, preparation, and application.
● Lavender
Lavender has a long history of medicinal use and is suggested to possess anticonvulsant,
antidepressive, anxiolytic, sedative, and calming properties. Lavender is also prescribed
by some medieval physicians such as Ebn-e-sina and Razi for treatment of epilepsy and
migraine attacks. Furthermore, lavender is considered beneficial in treatment of pain and
tremor.
● Ginger
Ginger is commonly used to treat various types of "stomach problems," including motion
sickness, morning sickness, colic, upset stomach, gas, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome
(IBS), nausea, nausea caused by cancer treatment, nausea caused by HIV/AIDS
treatment, nausea and vomiting after surgery, as well as loss of appetite.
● Chamomile
Chamomile is an herb that comes from the daisy-like flowers of the Asteraceae plant
family. It has been consumed for centuries as a natural remedy for several health
conditions. To make chamomile tea, the flowers are dried and then infused into hot water.
Furthermore, chamomile tea is loaded with antioxidants that may play a role in lowering
your risk of several diseases, including heart disease and cancer.
● Garlic
Garlic is most commonly used for conditions related to the heart and blood system. These
conditions include high blood pressure, high levels of cholesterol or other fats (lipids) in
the blood (hyperlipidemia), and hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis).
● Echinacea
Echinacea, also known as the purple coneflower, is an herbal medicine that has been used
for centuries, customarily as a treatment for the common cold, coughs, bronchitis, upper
respiratory infections, and some inflammatory conditions.
