Activity 1: Venn diagramming


Select a health product that is manufactured by various companies. Look for advertisements of
several brands. Compare and contrast the information given by your chosen advertisements.

Activity 2: Acronym
Give the meaning of the acronym and describe each term.
1. PhilHealth-
Philippine Health Insurance Corporation - was created in 1995 to implement universal health
coverage in the Philippines. It is a tax-exempt, government-owned and controlled corporation of the
Philippines, and is attached to the Department of Health.
2. HMO-
Health maintenance organization - In the United States, a health maintenance organization is a
medical insurance group that provides health services for a fixed annual fee

3. IPA-
independent physician association- Physicians working in private practice band together to
form their own IPA to give them more bargaining power when arranging for contracts
with insurance entities
4. POS-

Point of Service (POS) Plans - A type of plan in which you pay less if you use doctors, hospitals,
and other health care providers that belong to the plan’s network. POS plans also require you to
get a referral from your primary care doctor in order to see a specialist.

5. PPO-
Preferred Provider Organization - is defined as a type of managed care health
insurance plan that provides maximum benefits if you visit an in-network physician or
provider, but still provides some coverage for out-of-network providers.
