Malaysia Day: A Day to Remember

On 16th September every year, Malaysians celebrate Malaysia Day which is

significant for the multi-racial community in the country. It is an important occasion,
especially for the people of Sabah and Sarawak, because they feel ‘isolated’

The question is no longer why Malaysians celebrate Malaysia Day. The answer is
simple but has a strong message. It’s a celebration of joy and happiness to commemorate
the formation of Malaysia when the Federation of Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak agreed to
live together under one roof. It’s also showcase of Malaysia’s strengths and weaknesses
which depend on all the citizens regardless of their origin, race and religion.

The Malaysian government has sent out a very strong and clear message to all
Malaysians about how important Malaysia Day is for the country. It’s declared a public
holiday for everyone in the country to take this opportunity to demonstrate the spirit of
nationalism on the day by joining in the celebrations organised in every state. Malaysians
hang out with their families and friends by participating in the glorious and meaningful event.

If August 31st is remembered as our Independence Day, the September 16th must be
celebrated all Malaysians as the country’s birthday. Thus, let’s join our hands together to
show our support and love for our beloved country, Malaysia.
