a. ACTIVITY

CONCEPT NOTE #1 Definitions & Factors in Achieving Fitness Health


FITNESS refers to the quality of being able and suitable to do a certain task or demand. Fitness
covers physical well-being, balanced mental state, emotional stability, and spiritual soundness
HEALTH is defined as a “state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not
merely the absence of disease and infirmity” (WHO 2003).

FACTORS IN ACHIEVING FITNESS AND HEALTH


- PROPER DIET – includes GO food for energy, GROW food for bones, muscle, and teeth; GLOW
food for skin, hair.
- REGULAR EXERCISE – Helps improve blood circulation, so that the bloodstream will be able to
continuously supply oxygen and nutrients to the vital organs of the body. It helps to reduce stress,
increase energy, control weight, and brighten your mood.
- BALANCED LIFESTYLE – helps to reduce the risks of disease and increase your chance to live
longer. It includes
- Enough rest and sleep
- Optimistic outlook
- Organized and realistic priorities
- Good relations with family and friends
- Various interests and hobbies that develop your intellect talents and skills.
- Strong determination to succeed and become a responsible and responsive
member of society
- Good hygiene and healthy habits
- Holistic set of ethics, values, and spirituality.

Lead Questions for Discussion:
QUESTION 1: Did you experience to have a proper diet? Having a regular exercise?
QUESTION 2: Anyone who has enough rest and sleep? How about having a good relationship with your
family and friends?

Let the student discuss the importance of having a proper diet, regular exercise and a balanced lifestyle.
d. APPLICATION / ASSESSMENT
Draw a MOTIVATOR JAR: in every piece of paper, fill the jar on the right color of an activity you want
to do, and at the end of the week, check out which of these help you the most

I. Agreement
The student should bring their MOTIVATOR JAR every meeting in the subject of Physical
Education and Health1 to check by their Teacher. Teacher will write some notes at the back of the paper
to give them motivation or assessment in their activity.
