Assignment #7:
IDENTIFY WHAT ARE THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES, LUMINOUS MYSTERIES,
SORROWFUL MYSTERIES, AND GLORIOUS MYSTERIES.

1. JOYFUL MYSTERIES
- Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary is we accompany Mary and Joseph as they
learn that Mary will bring the Son of God into the world, and we journey with
them through Christ’s birth and into his childhood.
2. LUMINOUS MYSTERIES
- The Luminous Mysteries also referred to as the Mysteries of Light,
demonstrate the light of God manifested through Jesus. It proposed by Pope
John Paul II in his Apostolic Letter “Rosarium Virginis Mariae”, it includes
the baptism of Jesus, the wedding feast at Cana, the proclamation of the
Gospel, the Transfiguration, and the institution of the Eucharist.
3. SORROWFUL MYSTERIES
- Sorrowful Mysteries are the traditionally prayed as part of the Rosary,
providing the opportunity to meditate on the events leading up to Christ’s
death. There are five sorrowful mysteries such as The Agony of Jesus in the
Garden of Gethsemane, The Scourging of Jesus at the Pillar, The Crowning of
Jesus with Thorns, The Carrying of the Cross, and The Crucifixion and Death
of Jesus.
4. GLORIOUS MYSTERIES
- The Glorious Mysteries are a series of events which occurred after Jesus’s
death, which are recited as part of prayer that Catholics say at Church on
Wednesday and Sunday. There is five Glorious Mysteries when we pray.
First, The Resurrection of Our Lord, second, to the Ascension of Our Lord,
the third, to the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, the fourth, to the
Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and fifth, to the Coronation of the Virgin
Mary.
