CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

INTRODUCTION

Our existence has been completely disrupted by the Internet. It has completely changed
how we communicate, to the point where it is now our go-to method. We use the Internet for
virtually everything. Purchasing a television, placing a pizza order, spending time with a friend,
and sending a picture over instant messaging are some examples. The advent of the Internet and
the growing importance of social media in our lives have fundamentally altered how we consume
and see food. Some of these developments are beneficial to our society, but there are some
problematic aspects to our Internet habit as well.

As a result, most businesses and companies are now relaying their business with the
internet especially in today’s age of fast food and take-out deliveries, many restaurants have
chosen to focus on quick preparation such as speedy delivery orders were placed on phones and
any technological gadgets. One significant part of business that has been introduced by the
internet today is the online food ordering system.

The Raf and Nat’s Kan Anan seeks to satisfy clients' appetites by offering good dining
services and high-quality goods. In the case of Raf and Nat's Kan Anan, because the restaurant
places food orders manually, it is common for diners to have to wait a short while.

In order to address the mentioned issue, researchers have designed and created an online
ordering and inventory system that will aid restaurants in managing their dining options. The
customers can place an order via the restaurant's online ordering system. Every sale and
transaction that they received may be simply tracked down by the management. The researchers
intend to make use of the MySQL database together with the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
programming languages. This will speed up the process and produce better outcomes.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims for the development of Online Ordering System and Inventory System at Raf
and Nat’s Kan Anan.
Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:
1. What is the current process used by the Raf and Nat’s Kan Anan in tracking their orders?
2. What is the current process used by the Raf and Nat’s Kan Anan in tracking their
inventory?
3. What are the problems encountered by the employees with the existing manual tracking
orders and inventory?
4. How effective is the implementation of the Online Ordering and Inventory System?
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Online ordering has a great impact on restaurant operations. Because some people spend
most of their time in internet and it provides a huge market potential for restaurants. Today’s
demand for online ordering are now grower and grower for restaurants consumers.
The following people will benefit from the said study:

Customer. With this ordering system the costumers can easily look or browse at the website
what they want to order or what is available some customer wants to add some recipe of their
order. And for this online ordering the customers can save their favorite orders and can easily re-
order their favorite food whenever they want or like.
Management. Most of restaurants owner and manager are looking for the solutions for making
their order quickly as fast as the delivery, so that the customer will have no issues of the fast-
food restaurant and they can eventually recommend on other people that this restaurant has a
good-services. It is more important to the management to develop most trusted ordering system
to make up the demands of the customer.
Future researchers. The future researchers can use this study as reference when they tend to
conduct a research in relevance to this study.
SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

Online ordering system should be a web based and must use the main language of
programming will be PHP. The common purpose is to simplify and improve the efficiency of the
ordering process both customers and restaurant, ensure data accuracy and security during the
customer order placement process. And the customer should always able to view the menus so
they can choose what they want to order and can view the ingredients of the product and have a
visual confirmation to their order.
Requires internet connection and the user also should be computer literate. Other
limitation is that the system can only be convenient in a small place, basically only around the
restaurant area.
The common target of this system is that the customers are adults with access to
computer system, and the minors can actually go to the restaurant physically to order their food
with a guidance of an adult.
For time and economic reasons the developed software only covers the aspect of online
ordering system and inventory system.

Online Ordering System of LIDO Enterprise

Online Ordering System of LIDO Enterprise is a web-based system that helps LIDO Enterprise
to manage their business digitally, and allow customer to make order online. As a fast growing
company, online enterprise system becoming a need compared to manual method. Therefore, this
system has been developed to help LIDO Enterprise to manage their sales and services online .It
is a better approach to optimize the relationship between LIDO Enterprise and customers. There
are two target users in this system, admin staff and the customers of LIDO Enterprise. The
system consists of ten modules: login and registration, customize stock specification, manage
order and profile, search product, manage stock and specification, approved order, advisory
administration for admin side function and Live Chat. Rapid Application Development (RAD)
model has been used in this project. The four phases are requirements planning, user design,
construction and cutover. The implementation of interface and coding to each module in the
system has been completed. The testing shows that the acceptance criteria of the system has
achieve the objectives of this project.

According to Moday (2016) that the sales and inventory system is concern with the
processing of the transactions of the customers and owner and saving the sales records at the
same time.
