 Practice one’s belief on how to express God works in one’s life

A. Getting Started

Good day my beloved students! How was your long quiz last week? Did you find it
easy? I hope you are all doing great and enjoying it as you learn to discover more
about this subject. Let’s face again another week with excitement to learn new
things about the Law and the Church.

In our previous lesson, we learned about the Dynamics of Conscience. For this
week, another lesson is set for you to learn which is all about God’s Salvation:
Law and Grace.

Before we move on to that, kindly read the bible story entitled, “The Man with a
Withered Hand” on pages 242-243 of your book.
To process your understanding about the story, answer the given questions on
pages 244-245. Take a clear picture of your answer and save it in your OTG flash
drive.

B. Exploring the Lesson

Great story! Isn’t it? Yes, indeed!

Today, you will discover and learn more about the Law and the Church. Are you
now excited? Let’s proceed.
On a Sabbath in Jesus’ time, an action like healing was considered work which was
prohibited by the law. Yet, Jesus made the miracle possible not so much for self-
proclamation, not to defy the Sabbath law, but to prioritize the order of values-human
good over the law. This is a clear manifestation of a choice between the sin of
commission and omission. Clearly, for Jesus to deny charity, and to withdraw doing
good to another is more evil than transgressing the law. Justice and order must look at
the absolute good which is life (hence, He cured the man with the paralyzed hand.). To
do otherwise is to kill and thereby destroy a greater good.

For more elaboration of this, get your OTG flash drive and click the PowerPoint file
“Lesson 18.” Read very carefully as you study the contents of each slide.

C. Assessing Learning

The use of signs is an art of communicating nonverbally. We interpret signs and symbols
through our critical way of thinking. Out of this process, a rule is followed to have order,
peace, and security. However, in extreme cases and only when it calls for the preservation of
life and other absolute value, exemptions to the rule are made. We bring consolation as we
listen and attend to someone else’s needs. Jesus brings to the fore an example of a life-over-
law decision.
By obeying the Church, we acknowledge our need for salvation. We allow ourselves to be
sustained by God’s grace to combat the horror of sin.

To process your understanding, answer Capture It with a Slogan on pages 250-251. Take
a clear picture of your answer and save it in your OTG flash drive.
