Let’s Review
Module 1: How God revealed Himself to us? God works in us, everything we do
must be in accordance to His will. He reveals Himself in us in a special way. In
every good deed we do, God is present. Cleaning your home, pleases God. It means
that when you do good, you are also revealing His goodness to others (family).

Module 2: Our talents and abilities are gifts from God. If we use our talents
properly, we are praising God. Doing your chores properly also praises God. Since
it is pleasing God, it considered a prayer of praise to Him. Every good thing you do
is a prayer to God.

Let’s Learn
What comes into your mind when you hear or read the word responsibility?
As an adolescent what do you think are your different responsibilities?

TRIVIA:
The word responsibility originated from the Latin term responsabilis meaning
“answerable”. Hence, a responsible person is someone who is answerable to or
accountable for his/her actions.

In this module you will be learning more about man as stewards/ care-takers of His creation.
We have our own roles and responsibilities as we live our life.

A. ENGAGE: LIFE EXPERIENCE

Adolescence is a period of adjustments and preparations for the next stage of life.

ACTIVITY # 1: (write your answer on the Answer Sheet page 9)
Roles and
Responsibilities! 1. Give 1 responsibility you do every day that you like most? Why?
_________________________________________________________
As a grade teeneager what do you think are your different responsibilities?
What can you do to prove that you a responsible teenager?

A young person like you, needs to know the various responsibilities expected from you. As you go along
with your everyday life, you are faced with different responsibilities that you need to attend to. In school, you
have to do your assignment and pass your requirements on time; at home, the daily chores you need to help with,
and not to mention the obligations expected to you as a member of your church, community, and country. As you
mature, your responsibilities start to increase and become varied.

B.EXPLORING the WORD

What does the BIBLE say on ROLES & RESPONSIBILITY?

“ God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them. God blessed them, and God said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion
over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living
thing that moves upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26-28)
God has given us talents and skills to fulfill our roles and responsibilities. Every time we share these
talents and skills, we also need to take responsibility every action that we do.

Guide Questions:

ACTIVITY # 2: (write your answers on the Answer Sheet on page 9-10)

B. Essay:

C. Explain and Elaborate

Adolescent means a young person in the process of developing from a child into an adult.

What does the Church say about Young People?

CHURCH TEACHING
Pope Francis has urged young people to embrace their role as the present and the future of the Catholic
Church by building relationships with their community and with God.
No man is an island; we grow into our full selves as persons only in relating to others. We Filipinos are
outstanding in this regard: it is said “Filipinos are never alone.” We realize being a person means being by others
(our conception, birth, upbringing), being with others (our family, friends, neighbors, business associates), and
being for others (love, service). This is how we have been created by God – as social beings. This is how we
works not only within but among us as the people of God, journeying toward our common destiny in God.

He (God) is in you, He is with you and He never abandon you. However far you may wander, He is
always there, the Risen One. He calls you and He wait for you to return to Him and start over again. When you
feel you are growing old out of sorrow, resentment or fear, doubt or failure, He will always be there to restore
your strength and your hope (CV, 2).

We are called to exercise responsible stewardship over all creation. (CFC341)

The young people are the backbone of a society and hence they determine the future of any given society. This
means that you play an important role both today’s society and the future society. There fore, due to the high
dependence on young people/teenagers in the society, they have a role to play because the future of our families,
communities and the country lies in their hands. As they grow, they have the responsibility to maintain the culture
of our culture, all good values in the societies, development projects, etc.

These are some Roles and Responsibilities of an Adolescent/ Teenager

1. The Duty to Self.
The duty must always begin with the self. It is difficult to transfer responsibility to another person if it is
not first applied to oneself. As a teenager, there are things you must pay attention to in order to say you
have truly fulfilled your duty to yourself.
Doing exercises.
Having a proper and nutritious food.
Using your talents to do your tasks.
Using your interest in computer it to improve your studies by reading or learning
things through media.
2. The Role as a Child (daughter/son).
Your family remains the biggest influence in your life.
It is also important that you understand the value of building a good relationship with your parents. It is
your duty to love, respect and trust your parents. Help your parents in things that you can.
At least keep your own room clean and tidy, if you can’t clean the whole house.
Cooking for dinner
Washing your own clothes.
Wiping the table after meals.
Respecting your parents by doing your responsibilities at home.
3. The Duty as a Brother/ Sister.
At home, you may be like "dogs and cats" with your siblings but you have your responsibilities to towards
them. Strive to enjoy the time with them. Being kind to your siblings will help you learn to treat your
neighbor well.

Offering help to your brother/sister when they need help in doing their assignments.
When someone makes fun your brother/sister are ready to fight for him/her.
Giving advice to your siblings.
4. The Role as a Student.
You are now in high school. In the larger "world". How do you value learning?
As students you have the responsibility to:

Studying hard.
Listening carefully to the instructions and lectures.
Talking to the teachers and other students properly.
Submitting your requirements/ tasks on time.
Applying and sharing what you have learn.
Think properly before answering your tests.

work of the community with other members.

Joining youth organizations to support the activities of your community or
barangay.
Helping in barangay activities like community cleaning.
In participating, you feel that you are part of the community. And it will help you to
increase your value as a person.

6. The Duty as a Believer.

We have our own church, but Does your daily work include practicing your faith?
Prayer is a way of praising God. It is a way of communicating with Him from the heart.
Praying.
Going to the church every Sunday or day of worship.
Doing good deeds to others.
Respecting others.

7. The Role as Media Consumer.

Not everything seen in the media is true. Can you use it responsibly?
Be responsible buyers and users.
Watching TV after doing homework.
Watching TV to know the standing of today’s weather.
Use media to communicate with others regarding learning.
8. The Duty to Nature/guardian of nature.
We have already experienced the flood that killed a lot of people and ruin a lot of property. You
are aware that all this would not have happened if we had only taken care of nature. The lament of Mother
Nature is loud. What's needed we respond before it is too late. Each of us can do something.
Participate in helping to save the environment.

Conserve electricity.
Turn off the computer, television and lights when not in use.
Repair broken faucets so that the water is not wasted dripping from it.
Join in the environmental work of the community like tree planting, clean-up drive.
Use the media to learn more about environment and spread how to save mother nature.

POINTS To REMEMBER:

 Doing your responsibilities will prepare you to face and fulfill greater responsibilities in the future. The
responsibilities that you have will enhance your knowledge, skills, and confidence toward self-growth. Doing your
responsibilities will also contribute to help improve the lives of people around you. Being responsible also means
doing your obligations for the common good of the society and your country. Whatever duty you must have as an
adult should be done responsibly. Who do you have to know and do the different responsibilities you have as an
adolescent?

 “No one lives only for himself. No one dies, just for themselves. We are all responsible to each other, God has
gathered us all to be with Him.” From a song, these lines make us understand the importance of meeting our duties
as God’s creatures. Being accountable reflects a person’s true personality. This is because it is innate in man. The
person who turns away from it can be compared to a person walking without a head (Alejo, P.B. 2004). So, as early
as now, start responding to your responsibilities - especially in meeting the most important human duty: to achieve
personal fulfillment, to seek holiness, to know, love and serve God freely. This challenge is not easy. But you must
act to address it. It is important to step into the next stage of your life. And your success in the later stages is the
foundation of shaping your personality.

 Traits such as self-discipline, willingness to sacrifice for the common good, and taking active role for the betterment
of the society (common good) and country are the characteristics of a responsible person.

 All responsibilities teach new knowledge and skills that will be needed to prepare adolescents for greater
responsibilities in the future.

 You must know and act out the responsibilities as a child, student, citizen, believer, media consumer, and steward of
nature.

 Have a positive attitude toward your responsibilities and remember the benefits that you get from doing them.
 A person committed to his/her roles and responsibilities will become responsible adult.
