Introduction

A healthcare team is made up of various health care workers who provide care to a

patient either in or out of a hospital. This team includes physicians, nurses, dentists, and

nurses among others (Taplin, Foster, and Shortell, 2013) I currently work as a member of a

healthcare team. The number of people on a health care team is determined by the ailment of

the patient. All the members of the team are required to work together.

Collaboration and Stewardship

In order to encourage teamwork within my healthcare team, I would do several things.

The first thing I would do is to encourage communication to be done in such a way that all

the health care team members are comfortable sharing their ideas. The second thing would be

to have a clear definition of responsibilities for all the health care team members so that

everyone knows what is expected of them. The third thing would be to encourage the quick

resolution of any conflict that could arise within the team so as to prevent communication

breakdowns and division within the team (Taplin, Foster, and Shortell, 2013)

A steward is a person who manages or supervises something. Stewardship, when

approached correctly, will allow the healthcare team to be able to adjust appropriately to the

changes that come its way. I will encourage every individual participant of the healthcare

team to consider the well-being of their fellow members. This can be done by making sure

that every member of the healthcare team is content in their work setting.

Conclusion

A successful healthcare team can only be successful if they are able to work together

as a team since each member has a role to play. Each member of the healthcare team has a

unique set of skills that they will contribute to the team. Collaboration is important since

healthcare is more complex and medical personnel is required to learn new methods of

treatments. A health care team that works in an environment where there is collaboration will

ensure that excellent care is given to the patient.
