I. Introduction
The purpose of this instruction is to present correct installation method for installing adapter plate FF1000
(68814201) with thermal graphite. Same installation method is applicable for adapter plate FF650 (68838983).
Be careful not to rip, bend, tear or otherwise damage the graphite sheet while installing. Always handle
graphite sheet with utmost care as they are quite fragile and can be damaged easily if handled without care.
Do not remove the graphite sheet from the envelope until the locator pins have been fixed

II. Installing adapter plate FF1000

1. Remove old IGBT module and clean thermal grease on the heat sink with a suitable
cleaning agent.
2. Take note of the number sequence of locations from 1 to 10 on the heat sink. Refer Fig. 1c

3. Screw the 4 locator pins(3AXD50000035387) on the 4 corners (positions 7 to 10) of the
adapter plate as seen in fig. 2b. Please note that these have 6mm screws on them.
4. Remove the graphite sheet from the envelope carefully and gently slide it on the heat sink
using the locator pins as shown in fig. 2b without touching the graphite sheet heavily.

5. Place the adapter plate on the heat sink. Use locator pins to install adapter plate correctly on
the graphite sheet as seen in fig. 3a. Make sure you do not disturb the graphite sheet at this stage
- Fix screws on positions 1 to 6 loosely with hands
- Replace the locator pins on positions 7 to 10 with screws and fix them loosely with hands

6. Finally tighten the screws in two phases in the sequence 1 to 10 as shown in the fig. 3c .
First phase with 1 Nm and then finally second phase with 3 Nm.

III. Installing adapter plate FF650

Follow adapter plate FF1000 instruction with certain exceptions:
Screw on the 4 locator pins. Remove the graphite sheet from the envelope carefully and slide it gently
on the clean heat sink.

- Replace the locator pins 1-4 one by one with screws fixed loosely
- Finally tighten the screws in two phases in the sequence 1 to 4 as shown in fig. 4a .

First phase with 1 Nm and then finally the second phase with 3 Nm.
