A. Instruction: Complete this Venn Diagram to differentiate the Item 1 Exogenic and Item 2 Endogenic
Processes (Forces) that shape the features of the Earth. In the middle, write the similarities between the
two processes.

Make sure that you write the meaning, distinct characteristics, examples and processes involved in both
endogenic and exogenic forces that give rise to landforms. Write the similarities between the two in the
middle also.

B. Read the article entitled “MGB study: Leyte susceptible to mass movement, coastal erosion” found in the
Lesson folder for Lesson 2. Then, answer the following questions.

Type of Geologic Specific Type of Place or Area in Causes Effects

Force Process Leyte
Water, wind, and Erosion The coastlines on Yolanda and Erosion rate was
pressure. the east and the Ruping further aggravated
towns on the
Exogenic Pacific side
Water, and waves Erosion On the western long sandy moderately to
and currents side of Leyte beaches covered highly susceptible
by unconsolidated to marine erosion
Exogenic alluvial deposits
Seismic shaking Mass movement, coasts of Close proximity to more susceptible
Earthquake and Calubian and the Philippine fault to mass
Endogenic Erosion Leyte towns movement,
earthquake and
erosion.

Processing Questions:

1. What are the common causes and effects of exogenic and endogenic processes to communities?
- The common causes are storms, natural alluvial deposits, and fault line proximities. While the most
common effects are susceptibility to erosions and earthquakes.

2. Why do you think we should be aware of the conditions of the place/s where we choose to permanently
settle and live?
- Because it gives us the idea of our safety. Knowing the conditions a place has, especially where you
permanently live, will not only inform you of the proper measurement you should have readily in case
of emergencies, but also, give you an idea of what is it like to live in that place.

3. Which is dangerous weathering or erosion and why?

- Both of them are dangerous, but in terms of which of them is more dangerous, it is erosion. Unlike
erosion, weathering is much more preventable and takes a significant amount of time to take effect.
While erosion is a little more unpredictable and easily susceptible to natural disasters.

4. If one does not have any choice, what general safety rules would you suggest to these people to adapt
to their environment?
- Always be aware of your surroundings and your current and future situations. You should always
observe the news regarding what could possibly happen in your place, i.e typhoons and earthquakes.
Always expect the unexpected, be on your guard and always prepare for emergency situations. Lastly,
build your place in the most stable place possible.
