Argument

Sea cucumbers or holothurians are animals of particular interest due to their high
nutritional, medicinal, ecological, and commercial value. They have a high content of
protein, minerals, and polysaccharides essential for human nutrition.

These elongated-bodied animals vary in length but are between 2.5 and 180 centimeters and
their diameter is around 24 or 25 centimeters. Some reach more than 3 meters in length.
Their skin is brown, black or olive green, with bony particles or leathery texture.

They lack a brain, so a ring of neural tissue sends nerves to the tentacles and pharynx, and 5
main nerves run from this ring down the length of the body and below the ambulacral areas.
To obtain oxygen, they have a pair of "respiratory trees" located inside the anus and
consisting of a series of branched tubules; these also function as excretory organs.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature has not assessed the status of the sea
cucumber, so its status is unknown. Species, especially in their larval stage, are known to
be vulnerable to predators such as starfish, crustaceans, fish, and humans. In this sense,
some populations are overexploited since their consumption is very high in Asian countries,
and they have even been depleted in some parts of Russia, México, and the Galapagos
Islands.

ARGUMENTS FOR OR AGAINST THE INTAKE OF THESE ANIMALS

Although we can find that sea gherkins can be used as a food source due to their
aphrodisiac beliefs, we can also find that these animals tend to have structures which in
their intake can help fight situations such as cancer.

As we can well read, most of the uses of the sea pickle are usually used in the cosmetic
industry. In the end, these types of measures tend to be beneficial only for large industries,
but this does not help the fauna and flora that helps these species at the bottom of the sea.

The arguments against can be too many, from the simple fact of being endangered species
as well as the help it has by functioning as symbiotic entities in the food chain at the bottom
of the sea, in which it widens the use of these In order to provide life to many marine fauna,
remember that sea gherkins are species that clean the seabed.

I PERSONALLY AGREE WITH THE USE OF THE SEA PICKLE AS FOOD OR USE IN THE
COSMETIC INDUSTRY.

A short answer to this would simply be NO, at the end of the day you try to get out of
biology, right? But being deeper in the answer, it must be noted that I really do not know
why they like it as food, they are not species that to see them cooked look appetizing.
Without removing the fact that uncontrolled fishing in countries such as Korea, Japan,
China and other countries that have in their economy a wide need to be at the forefront, but
the problem that this may cause is not seen, the disappearance of these species in the end
they contribute to a decrease in climate change.
