POWER ELECTRONICS - 403037

POWER ELECTRONICS
2022 Tran Quoc Hoan, PhD
Course Objective 2

This course introduces to students:

Operating principle of power electronics devices: Diode, Thyristor,

TRIAC, Transistor, GTO, MOSFET, IGBT

Operating principle of power electronics converters: Rectifiers,

DC/DC converters, AC/AC converters, Inverters and frequency
converters
Evaluation of the output quality of power electronics converters.
Course Objective 3

Introduce to power electronics devices and concepts:

Rectifiers: single-phase/three-phase rectifiers, half-wave/full-wave rectifiers,

uncontrolled/controlled rectifiers.

AC-AC converters: single-phase/three-phase AC to AC converters.

DC-DC converters: step-down/step-up, transformer models (forward, fly-back,

half-bridge, full-bridge).

Inverters: single-phase/three-phase, voltage-source/current-source inverters;

sine PWM & space vector PWM techniques; and frequency converters.
