Damascus steel is a mixture of two steels (1095 and 15n20) forged together at a high
temperature.
Layers are 256
Patterns:
1. Twist (O, X)
2. Raindrop (barish ka katra)
3. Fire (irregular, X)
4. Ladder (serhi)
5. Feather (Pankh)
6. Snake feather (Sanp aur pankh)
7. San Mai (Black line at bevel)
8. Flower (Phool)
9. Black and white twist
10. Mosaic
Handle materials
1. Wood (rosewood (Tali), olivewood (kao), walnut wood, chinar, wengi, color woods
(red, blue, purple, green, black also known as Black Pakka wood).
2. Ram horn (sheep horn) (Paidu)
3. Bull horn (Kala Sing)
4. Stag horn (bara singha)
5. Camel bone (Colored or burned camel bone) (hadi)
6. Resin sheets
7. Micarta sheets (almost in every color but white is hard to find)
8. Dollar sheet

a) Very tough steel
b) Long life edge resistance
c) Hard to sharpen again, time taking

1095:

e) Rustable, because of high carbon value in it.
f) Also known as Rail Steel or Carbon Steel
J2:
a) Soft Steel
b) Edge soft, but when we make good temper, its good enough.
c) Easy to sharp
d) HRC, 56-58
e) Stainless steel
