ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
• Environmental protection is the practice of protecting
the natural environment by individuals, organizations
and governments. Its objectives are to conserve
natural resources and the existing natural
environment and, where possible, to repair damage
and reverse trends.
• It is the prevention of unwanted changes to
ecosystems and their constituent parts. It includes
programs that are aimed at reducing risks to the
environment from contaminants.

2000 and signed by the President on January 26, 2001.

The National Solid Waste Management Commission
⮚Created under the Office of the President
⮚Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of
DENR provides secretariat support

⮚Composed of 14 members from the government
and 3 from the private sector
