Review the following major life areas. Think carefully about what you want your life to be like in each of
these ten areas (in no particular order) over the next several years. Many people find it helpful to think 3-5
years out, but you may choose any time frame that makes sense for you.

Career & Lifestyle Areas AIM

Financially
Questions to consider:
🕘 How much money do you want to make?
🕘 How much do you want to save and for what
purpose(s)?
🕘 What kind of car, house, or other things
might you want to own?
🕘 In what way(s) would you like to manage your
finances differently?

Spiritually
Questions to consider:
🕘 What gives your daily life purpose or meaning?
🕘 Do you have a satisfying connection to something
beyond yourself?
🕘 What might energize the spiritual dimension of your life?

Occupationally
Questions to consider:
🕘 What kinds of work appeal to you most?
🕘 What elements are most important to your
job satisfaction? (salary, commute,
co-workers, the work itself, or other factors?)
🕘 In what ways would you like your career to be
different in the next several years?

Socially
Questions to consider:
🕘 With whom do you want to spend most of your time?
🕘 What kinds of friends do you want to have?
🕘 What kinds of activities would you like to pursue?
(travel, sports, artistic or cultural interests, or others?)

Community
Questions to consider:
🕘 In what ways would you like to be involved in your community?
🕘 How can you work and be of benefit to your community?
🕘 How would you like to be viewed in your communities (e.g., family,
friends, media, government, religious group, etc?)

Family
Questions to consider:

🕘 What do you want your home and home life to be like?


🕘 If you do not have a partner, with what kind of person
(if any) would you like to develop a relationship?
🕘 How might you enhance your relationship with your
spouse/partner?
🕘 Would you like to have a child or children?
🕘 If you have a child or children, in what ways might
you want to relate to them differently?
🕘 What activities would you like to share with your family?

Educationally/Mentally
Questions to consider:

🕘 How would you like to stretch yourself intellectually


or academically?
🕘 What skills or knowledge might you like to learn
or enhance?
🕘 How would you like to learn or improve in
these areas (classroom training, online courses,
reading, apprenticeship or internship programs,
volunteer opportunities, or other approaches?)

Personally
Questions to consider:

🕘 How would you ideally like to spend your free time?


🕘 What activities would you like to engage in?
🕘 In what way(s) would you like to spend your personal
time differently?

Emotionally
Questions to consider:

🕘 How would you like to improve your emotional life?


🕘 Are there specific thought processes, habits, or mood
or relationship patterns you would like to change?
🕘 What might you do to help yourself become more
emotionally fulfilled?

Physically
Questions to consider:

🕘 How would you like to improve your physical health?


🕘 In what ways might you want to change your weight,
fitness level, or exercise, sleep or eating/drinking patterns?
🕘 What steps might you want to take to strengthen your
health?
