Explain that there are three main verb tenses; past, present and future.
Each tense is divided into; simple, continuous, perfect and perfect
continuous. But in this lesson, they will focus at the simple tenses in
the past, present and future.
The present tense may express an action that is repeated or ongoing.
It can also express an action that is happening at this moment or a
situation that is always true.
The past tense expresses an action that has already happened. In
regular verbs, the past tense is formed by adding –ed or –d to the base
form. In irregular verbs, the past tense takes a variety of forms.
The future tense expresses an action that will take place in the future.
The future tense is formed by adding will to the base form.
4. Analysis
Open the class for queries and clarification
If all are clarified, divide the class into 2.
Give each group a story that has no verb tense consistency.
Let the students rewrite the story in the simple past tense form and
present it to the class.
5. Abstraction
Ask the students the following questions:
o Why is it important to be consistent with the use of tenses in our
writing and in our daily conversations?
o Explain that changes in verb tense can help the reader and
listener understand when something is happening at a different
time. But unexpected or inconsistent shift in tense can be
confusing for the readers and listeners.

Write the past, present, and future tense of the given verb.
