Dermaclarine™

A natural and gentle skin clarifier

Background
Dermaclarine™ is part of ABT's patented skin care actives extracted from
Norwegian fresh water after salmons have hatched. Hatching water is a
complex protein solution that has proven to have a wide range of benefits
for human skin. Dermaclarine™ is a result of research done by the
University of Bergen whose scientists were intrigued by the fact that salmon
hatchery workers' hands became smooth and soft after sorting salmon eggs
despite the prolonged exposure to cold water. They discovered unique
enzymes and proteins released in the water where salmon eggs hatch.
Dermaclarine™ is a concentrated fraction of this potent cocktail.

Key features
Dermaclarine™ is a patented ingredient derived from the hatching water of salmon roe or “red
caviar” as it is otherwise known. Dermaclarine™ is:
 Novel and unique.
 A biomimetic enzymatic alternative to AHAs, able to render comparable exfoliating results
without any irritation.
 Proven to significantly reduce skin imperfections in vivo: effectively clears pores, visibly
diminishes their appearance, and minimizes the number of comedones, pustules, and pimples,
while keeping the skin moisturized.
 100% natural and sustainable.
 Highly stable, unlike other enzymes, and easy to formulate.
Dermaclarine™ is a gentle ingredient for a clear and refined complexion.

How it works
Two types of proteins from salmon hatching water are
exfoliating corneocyte
concentrated in Dermaclarine™:
corneodesmosome
1. Proteases that help the larva getting out of its eggshell degraded by proteases
by digesting this tough, fibrous protein structure but
without harming the delicate baby fish, gently exfoliate
corneodesmosome
dead skin cells. Like the enzymes naturally secreted by
human skin, these proteases degrade specific cell
binding sites in the stratum corneum, corneodesmo-
somes. Dead skin cells are gently detached while the
living skin cells beneath remain untouched.
Hence, the smooth skin of the hatchery workers!

2. Egg shell proteins penetrate and transport moisture stratum corneum 2
into the stratum corneum that hydrates the skin.
Acne occurs in part when there is a buildup of dead skin cells in the pores (hyper-keratinization
of the sebaceous canal). Dermaclarine™ helps normalize the shedding of the skin cells inside
the pores and prevent the clogging that, along with oil and bacteria, can produce skin lesions.

The assessment of exfoliation on 3 subjects using D-Squames® revealed a
higher reduction in scaliness on average for Dermaclarine at 3% compared
to glycolic acid at 3% after treatment regimens of 5 min, 10 min or 15 min.
