1. What are the three approaches in teaching problem solving? Which approach do you think
should be used in teaching mathematics?
Teaching for problem solving, teaching through problem solving, and teaching about
problem solving are the three approaches to problem solving. For me, the approach that
should be used in teaching mathematics is teaching through problem solving. Students
learn new mathematics through the Teaching Through Problem-solving (TTP) method.
Together, they develop the following concept or procedure in the mathematics
curriculum after grappling with a brand-new problem, presenting, and discussing
potential solutions. Teaching through problem solving helps students concentrate on
concepts and mathematical practices. A student's confidence grows as a result of
problem-solving-based instruction, and their strengths are emphasized. The students
are involved in their own learning and can collaborate with one another.
2. Recall your mathematics classes in elementary level. What approach was used by your teacher?
My teacher employs the second strategy, which involves teaching through problem-
solving. He will demonstrate various arithmetic topics and explain them before
presenting us with various problem sets so that we students may better understand
how to solve them.
1. As future teacher, what approach would you use in teaching problem solving? Justify it by
writing five sentences.
The second strategy, which involves teaching through problem solving, is the one I'll
employ while I'm instructing. Children need to learn the value of mathematics since they
will use it and face it frequently throughout their lives. I have to demonstrate or explain
several arithmetic ideas to the youngster in order for them to comprehend a lesson or
problem. I will next give them some exercises to help them further their understanding.
Giving them homework or problem sets to expand their knowledge may also be helpful.
