I can appreciate the bell curve of 3d6, 2d6 etc.

But I play all of my rpg's solitaire - as in one person, me.

I'm wanting GURPS with more "swingy-ness" hence my desire to play d100
All I can think of is BRP

What about D100 Revolution? or others?

Thanks.
p.s. I'm wanting a generic system so I can do low fantasy, westerns, modern war/special ops stuff,
etc.

I really do Like Harnmaster and WFRP 4e and Zweihander, etc If I want fantasy.
I'm getting to that age of wanting to learn one system and then be done with it.

A quick and dirty solution could be to just multiply all values with 5, and then use it as a percentile
(or just use a D20). It won't mirror the bell curve, but I got the impression that you wanted to get
away from that anyway.

BRP will probably do you fine, but I'd adopt the suggestion above: Just multiply by 5 and go.

Mythras - and Mythras Imperative has your back as an introduction to the system.

The games from DwD are a good, simple D00 system.

Barebones Fantasy
Covert Ops
Frontier Space

Frontier Space has a slightly different system but is still compatible.

Mythras is probably the best current D100 generic system, but there are other possibilities. Legend,
a reworking of Mongoose RQII (and direct ancestor of Mythras) is available for all of $1 on
Drivethru. Goblinoid Games' G.O.R.E. (Generic Oldschool Roleplaying Engine) is a BRP
retroclone, and free.

Rolemaster Standard System adds an advantage and disadvantage system to Rolemaster as well as
an involved but optional point buy system.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if you want GURPS without the bell curve, what about instead
of rolling 3d6, just roll 1d6 * 3? That way you still get a result between 3 and 18, but 3,6,9,12,15
and 18 are all equally likely, and you don't need to multiply skills, stats, etc.

Alternatively, you could still use GURP's and just convert the scores to percentages and then roll d
%

3D6 Roll Percentile

3 or less 0.46%
4 or less 1.85%
5 or less 4.63%
6 or less 9.26%
7 or less 16.20%
8 or less 25.93%
9 or less 37.50%
10 or less 50.00%
11 or less 62.50%
12 or less 74.07%
13 or less 83.80%
14 or less 90.74%
15 or less 95.37%
16 or less 98.15%
17 or less 99.54%
18 or less 100.00%

Edit: Even more exotically, there are companies that make d16 dice; the exact number of possible
results on 3d6. That smooths out the progression completely.

True. But that doesn't yield more 'swinginess' which the OP wanted.

You could also just swap to a D20 roll-under but keep the GURPS scores. Again, more swingy
without losing any of the GURPS toolkit goodies, if that's one of the goals.

What is it you want to preserve from GURPS that isn't in BRP? That would help me make a good
suggestion. Is it the character traits (advantages, disadvantages, etc.)?

I was just about to say this. You don't have to change anything else about the system really.

BRP can do all the genres mentioned, as well something close to HârnMaster or Warhammer. What
it can't do so well is GURPS' Advantage/Disadvantage system, if only because it has none. You
might want to invent one yourself.

In fact, Harnmaster arguably IS BRP. Just not name-brand :)
