Happening/Trigger (What triggers your Reflection? (Readings/Statement/

Discussion)

Constructivism states that learners construct meaning only through active

engagement with the world (such as experiments or real-world problem solving).
Constructivism is based on the idea that people actively construct or make their own
knowledge, and that reality is determined by your experiences as a learner.
Basically, learners use their previous knowledge as a foundation and build on it with
new things that they learn. So, everyone's individual experiences make their learning
unique to them.

Learning, Realization, Discoveries/Insights

In Constructivism, learning involves constructing ideas and meaning to every

situation and experiences. For example, if a student is writing a reaction paper about
the latest GMA series “Maria Clara at Ibarra”, they are also learning principles of
grammar and writing as well. Each time we experience something we gain knowledge
out from that experience. Constructivism stimulates engagement to students also
known as “learning by doing”. A teacher who uses constructivism in the classroom
promotes the development of communication skills by creating a classroom
environment that emphasizes collaboration and exchange of ideas. Children learn
more, and enjoy learning more when they are actively involved, rather than passive
listeners.

Plan of Action/ Application (With these realizations and insights, what do you
intend to do?)

My plans on implementing constructivism in my classroom is to create experience

that they will use as a bases in real life situation, an experience where they can learn
and adapt. I should promote communication and create flexibility so my learners will be
active in participation. As a teacher I should coach, facilitate and suggest, but I will
also give the students room to experiment, ask questions and try to commit mistakes.
Because I believe that learning activities require the students' full participation. The
student should be able to create new understanding for him/herself. An important part
of the learning process is that students reflect on about their activities.
