1.0 Introduction :
Petronet LNG has floted a lump sump open tender for design, construction, installation and
commissioning of a standby LNG jetty in Dahej. The EPC contactors have to submit their lump
sump offer for the same which would include all civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation
work for marine facilities as well as top side facilities. However, this design brief covers
preliminary design of marine civil structures of Standby LNG Jetty in Dahej, comprising
Unloading Platform, Bresting Dolphins, Mooring Dolphins, Catwalks and Approah Trestle. This
document does not cover design of top side facilities like unloading equipments, piping, associated
facilities and systems and other on shore facilities which come under the scope of top side
facilities.

2.0 General Scope of Works :

The marine facilities of the project mainly include 1 no service platform, 4 no berthing dolphins,
8 no mooring dolphins, about 2450m long approach trestle and catwalks connecting service
platform with the dolphins.

2.1 Service Platform :

The service platform is a double storied structure. The lower deck is called main deck and
upper deck is termed elevated deck. The concrete main deck is founded on vertical and
raker steel piles. On top of piles pile cap is provided to support concrete beams which in
turn support the concrete main deck. The upper deck is founded on concrete columns with
similar structure of concrete beams and concrete deck slab. The elevated deck houses
marine unloading arms and the main deck has vehicular access on it. . Finished top level of
main deck is +21.3 m CD and elevated deck’s top level is +27.3 m CD.

2.2 Berthing Dolphin :

There are total 4 no berthing dolphins. 2 at each side of service platform. Plan size of each
berthing dolphin is 10m x 11m and is supported on 16 no 1168 φ raker steel piles of grade
API X-56. Each berthing dolphin is fitted with 1 no SUC 2500 RS fender of Bridgestone
and 1 no 2 x 150 T QRMH. This QRMH is fixed on an elevated platform which is held by
4 no RCC columns over berthing dolphin’s pile cap. Finished top level of pile cap is +12.0
m CD and that of elevated platform is +16.0m CD.

Design Brief - Dahej LNG Page 3 of 18

2.3 Mooring Dolphin :
There are total 8 no Mooring dolphins. 4 at each side of service platform. Plan size of each
mooring dolphin is 10m x 10m and is supported on 14 no 1168 φ raker steel piles of grade
API X-56. Each mooring dolphin houses 1 no of 4 x 150 T QRMH, HPU and shore based
winch. 2 no BAS is fitted on MD-3 & MD-6 only. Finished top level of pile cap is +16.0 m
CD.

2.4 Approach Trestle :

Total length of Approach trestle is about 2450m. There are total 102 no pile bents spaced at
regular interval of 24m. There are 7 no expansion loops bay and 4 no expansion loop cum
passing bay. Each regular pile bent from 1 to 22 would be supported on two no 1200 φ
RCC piles and from 23 to 70 there would be 2 no 1400 φ RCC pile supporting regular pile
bents. For expansion loop bay / expansion cum passing bay support pile bents there would
be 4 no piles for pile bent no 1 to 70. Beyond pile bent no 70 steel piles will be provided
with a combination of vertical and raker piles. Top end of piles in a pile bent is connected
by a pile capping beam. The RCC deck slab of approach trestle is supported on PSC
girders which in turn rest on capping beams. 1 no PSC pipe rack beam is provided to carry
the pipe lines and cable racks from main plant to the Jetty head. Top level of deck is
constant +21.3 m CD from Jetty head to pile bent no 52 and thereafter it gradually reduce
to +16.74m CD at 1st pile bent. The carriageway width of Approach Trestle is 3.5m.

2.5 Catwalks :
Catwalks are the means to have access from one dolphin to the other or to the service
platform. Each catwalk comprises a space frame with two top chord and one bottom chord
connected by inclined bracing. Horizontal top ties are provided between two top chords
which serve as supports to two longitudinal walkway beams. These two longitudinal beams
ultimately support the walkway grating. Top level of grating will be +19.5m CD. One end
of this catwalk will be pinned while the other will be on roller.

6.3.5.1).
