2 convince or persuade a reader that writer’s point of view or opinion of a topic or

3 cause is correct. (PAUSE) when writing persuasive essays students need to

4 be well versed in word selection, framing logical arguments and creating a strong

5 cohesive closing argument.

7 TEACHER: There is a question why is persuasive writing important. (PAUSE) Well,

8 persuasive writing can be a wonderful means of expressing their views about a

9 subject. It is a way to tap into what students are passionate about and give them

10 the opportunity to do research on subjects that they are interested in. This helps

11 students be more involved in your classwork. (PAUSE) Engaging in persuasive

12 writing also helps you improve skills such as different styles of writing structure,

13 doing research, and forming evidence based logical conclusions, opinions and

14 arguments.

17 Introduction – the introduction in your writing must have the thesis statement,

2 First body: stating the first reason. State your first point and add further details,

3 explanations, evidence and examples.(PAUSE)

4 Second body: stating the next point and add some elaboration about the case

5 Third body: Stating your final point and additional elaboration. Take note, you

6 may only have one or two points to explain…or you might have even more. Last

7 is the conclusion. Remind the reader of your argument and review your points.

8 What do you want to the reader to do now. When you are writing your points, do

9 not forget to add elaboration to each one. You may use introductory phrases,

11 In persuasive writing, the most used emphasis markers are ones that show

12 sequence, emphasize a point, provide examples and sum up all the points. Of

13 course, using facts to serve as evidences and opinions to give your reasons are

14 also considered in persuasive writing.
