Rizal’s Life and Works

Instructions:

1. Choose three (3) among the topics listed below. Explain your answers briefly and intelligently.

A. Why did Jose Rizal annotate Antonio de Morga’s Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas? What were the annotations he made?
B. What were the justifications that Jose Rizal wrote about the Filipino’s indolence? What is your viewpoint regarding the
development of the Philippines today? Do you think that the pace of our country’s current development has something to
do with Filipino’s indolence? Explain your position.
C. Who were the expatriates? What reforms were the expatriates advancing during the Spanish period? Why were these
reforms unsuccessful?
D. Deconstruct the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo as discussed in the class. What are the differences and similarities
between these two novels? How did it impact the development of nationalism among Filipinos?

the sources used to support or concretize your answers. Online sources such as Wiki sites, Quora, Reddit, Yahoo Answers,
