Leadership Philosophy

As a future school principal my leadership philosophy is to build positive healthy

relationship with school faculty members and students. I believe building positive relationships

will help establish a positive school culture. I believe building positive relationships will also

lead to developing a welcoming demeanor where students and staff members feel comfortable to

approach school administrators to seek help when needed. I learned throughout this program that

collaboration plays a major role in the success of school administrators. I want to be a school

leader that is able to collaborate with school staff members and build them into educational

leaders. I also learned through this program the importance of developing leaders to help

distribute leadership opportunities. Providing staff members with leadership opportunities will

show them that they are trusted and valued and they will take ownership in accomplishing school

goals.

This educational journey has taught me the importance of following mandated polices to

help avoid legal consequences. As a school principal I want to lead ethically through

professional behavior. I believe if I lead by example as the school leader school faculty and

students will follow my lead. Leading ethically will help to provide a safe learning environment

for students and staff. Throughout this program I have also learned the importance of decision

making as a school leader. As a principal I believe it is important to make all decisions with the

best interest of students in mind. This educational program has taught me the importance of

aligning decision making to the schools mission and vision. As the school leader I will also align

all decision making to the school mission and vision. Throughout my course of study I have also

learned the importance of being an active member of the school community. As a school leader I

want to be part of the school community so that I can learn how to best support and advocate for

students. I believe being a part of the school community provides a chance for school leaders to

develop relationships with all stakeholders and network to provide additional resources to

students and staff.
