ADIDAS
The teacher gives an ice breaker question for introduction to the
ACTIVITY
student that is connected to the topic, which is Multiplication,
Division, Addition, and Subtraction, or MDAS.

This expression involves subtraction, addition, and multiplication. According to MDAS, simplify
all multiplication or division before adding or subtracting. Therefore, start by
simplifying 8×58×5.
Since 8×5=408×5=40, rewrite the expression using 40. The two operations remaining in the
DISCUSSION expression are subtraction and addition.
Since these operations are equal in power, read the expression from left to right and simplify
the first operation, which is 7−37−3. Since 7−3=47−3=4, rewrite the expression using 44. Next,
solve 4+40+40.

4+40=44+40=44. Therefore, 7−3+8×57−3+8×5 can be simplified to 44.

ADIDAS
Using a PowerPoint presentation , thoroughly explain to the students the
INPUT MDAS process. Students will complete a Listening Guide that follows along
with the presentation. Explain each step of the process, starting with the
multiplication. Explain that the multiplication of two numbers is equivalent
to adding as many copies of one of them, the multiplicand, as the quantity of
the other one, the multiplier. Then it has a different process when it comes
to division, addition, and subtraction.

Today you will learn how to compute the problem using MDAS in an easy way. You will have
DEEPENING the opportunity to show what you have learned through the discussion. May you describe
what uses MDAS mathematics?
ADIDAS
Each student will have to answer the given problems and will go to the back of the line after
ACTIVITY answering on the board.

1. 7 − 3 + 8 × 5
2. 6 + 10 × 2 ÷ 4
3. 5 + 81 ÷ 9 × 3 − 7
4. 84 − 8 ÷ 2 × 3
5. 16 + 8 × 4 − 9 ÷ 3

The students will answer and participate in the discussion and answer all the problems
SYNTHESIS that the teacher will give them. After that, the teacher will give them an activity for the
assessment.

QUESTION: Are there components of ADIDAS/ Five E’s model that were
not reflected in the lesson plan? If you are to fill in these missing parts,
what would you write?

ANSWER:
Although ADIDAS and 5E's are widely used, they have been criticized for not being
applicable to certain math topics. The following questions will test your reasoning
skills regarding this issue of the applicability of instructional planning models. The
activity in ADIDAS is similar to Engage and Explore in 5E’s model because the lesson
begins with an activity and aim to get the interest of the students. The Discussion and
Explain are similar because both practices are letting the student to share what they
learned from the previous activity. On the hand, the Input, Deeping and Elaborate
are similar because in this part the student will engage to critical and creative
thinking to deepen their understanding of the concepts that they have just learned.
