Project: Robinsons Forbes Estate Lipa Land Development Works

Location: Brgy. Inosluban, Lipa City, Batangas

Subject: Construction Methodology
Bidder: J.E. Manalo & Co., Inc.

CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY
Mobilization

Upon receipt of Notice of Award and Notice to Proceed, we shall commence with the
mobilization stage. First activity will be the securing of necessary permits and clearances if any.
We shall also set-up the temporary field office, bodega at the project site. We shall layout the
limits and required elevation of the proposed project. We shall submit our proposed materials
with back-up brochure for client’s approval. Then we shall mobilize to site the necessary
equipment for the project in the order of its usage.

Demolition Works & Trees Cutting

Before clearing the area, we shall demolished the existing structure at site like perimeter fence,
concrete pavement, drainage and other structures. Backhoe with impulse breaker attachment,
jack hammer and other manually operated power tools will be used for demolition. Trees will be
cut using chain saw and will be uprooted using backhoe or bulldozer.

Site Clearing

After demolition of all structures and cutting of trees inside site premises, using the bulldozer
we shall strip the surface of the area of the desired thick. Load the excavated soil, debris from
demolished structures using a payloader or backhoe to dump trucks for disposal offsite or at
any available area on site. T h e n in st a l l t h e t e m p o ra ry f e n c e (i f re q u i re d ) .

C ut & Fi ll

After stripping the area, bulldozer will proceed to the cutting works at the area as required in
plans. For filling works, the bulldozer shall be used for spreading of the fill materials (backfill or
imported fill if needed.). Grader will level the fill material spread by bulldozer. After that, the
vibratory road roller and water truck will be used for compaction works. Fill materials shall be
laid in desired layers of thick. At every layer there shall be FDT to be conducted to check the
compaction.

Construction of Retaining Wall / Counterfort for Perimeter Fence

Excavate for the footing elevation using backhoe. Then level the surface. Place and compact
the gravel bedding. Fabricate and install the rebars for the footing and the starter bars for the
wall. Next install the side forms for the footing. Deliver the ready mixed concrete to site and
place into the footing form. Use chutes for easier placement. If elevation is too low use the
backhoe bucket for placement. After completion of the footing, wall portion is next. Install
the reinforcing steel bars and weep holes then install the side forms including the necessary
bracings and walers. Next deliver the ready mixed concrete and place it into the forms. After
allowable curing days remove the formworks then backfill and compact the perimeter of
excavation.

Construction of Drainage System

Using backhoe, excavate the line of trench for drainage. Excavate also using backhoe for
manholes and other encasement. Spread and compact the required bedding. Install the
necessary rebars and formworks then pour the concrete.
For Laying of RCP, use backhoe and lifting hook for lifting and aligning. After aligning of RCP,
place the collar on joints then backfill and compaction. Conduct drainage flow system test .

Construction of Vertical Drainage

First, using vibratory hammer, drive the sheet piles all over the perimeter area of vertical
drainage. Sheet piles will serve as perimeter protection during excavation of the area. After
driving the sheet piles, excavate first using backhoe the whole area until to the desired depth.
After excavation, install the first layer of pre-fabricated RCP and then backfill (engineered fill)
and compact the surrounding area. After backfill and compact of the first layer, install the
next layer of RCP then backfill and compact again. Repeat similar procedure until reaches the
top layer. Use backhoe or crane in lifting and aligning the RCP. Once already reaches on the
top level, fabricate and install the rebars for collar and manhole then pour the concrete into
the form. Remove the sheet piles after allowable curing days of concrete.

Construction of Sewer Lines and Water Lines

Simultaneous to the trenching of drainage line is the trenching also of waterlines and sewer
lines. Construct the necessary manholes for gate valves, air valves, treatment facilities,
cistern, and other appurtenances. Spread the necessary beddings then install the PVC or
HDPE pipes for waterlines and sewer lines. After installing the pipes, backfill the trench and
compact. Install the valves, fire hydrant and other fixtures.

Construction of Road Works and Pavement

First, spread the subbase / base course using road grader. Then compact the subbase / base
course using vibratory roller. Construct half lane at a time. Fabricate the steel bars for dowels
for expansion and construction joints of the pavement. Next install the side forms. Next,
deliver the ready mixed concrete and place into the forms. Use concrete vibrator to compact
concrete. Level the surface using the screeder and wooden floats. Broom the finished
concrete surface. Next, construct also the curb & gutter, sidewalk and other concreting
works.

Perimeter Fence and Gate and other Miscellaneous Items

After of all major concreting works, proceed to architectural works such paintings, installation
architectural pavement finishes and other landscaping works if any. Construction of perimeter
fence can be done also proceeding to the construction of retaining wall and perimeter fence
footing.
Final Inspection, Testing and Turn Over

After completion of all works, a joint inspection with the representative of the owner will be
done to check the works. Disinfection works for waterlines will be done and other testing and
commissioning required. All necessary correction shall be rectify and corrected and if no more
correction is required then the project is now ready to turnover

Demobilization

After turnover of the project, demobilization shall starts. All temporary facilities shall be
removed. All equipment and excess materials shall be sent back to our yard. The area shall be
cleared from debris.
