Abstract
With the efforts of worthy vice chancellor,
international wheat conference was
organized under the supervision of
department of Plant breeding and genetics,
university of agriculture Faisalabad, the
whole department of Plant Breeding and
genetics was tangled in this conference, All
the teachers were assigned duties of
management as well as presentation in IWC.
International researchers, scientists, scholars,
professionals, academic, scientific and
university practitioners attended and
presented their research activities.
Conference was held at “Center of Advanced
Studies” at University of Agriculture
Faisalabad. All the registered participants
attended the conference there at CAS and at
NIFSAT (National Institute of Food Science
and Technology). Non-Registered students of
BS’ 7th semester were fixed to go to DLC2.
Inaugural session and other technical
sessions occurred for two days.
Introduction
International wheat conference is a great
opportunity to represent research on
international level and it is also the great
informative seminar . It was a 2-day
international conference. The whole
department of plant breeding and genetics
was involved in this conference,
international researchers, scientists, scholars,
professionals, academic, scientific and
university practitioners attended and
presented their research activities. Live
Session was available for only registered
unregistered participants of 7th semester
attended the conference online on LED at
DLC2. All the important aspects of wheat
were discussed and presented in this
international wheat conference. Researchers
from different countries presented their
research through video calls.

DAY-1
Opening session
The conference initiated with the recitation of
the Holy Quran, the speaker (Dr. kulvinder
singh gill) welcomed the guests and
presenters Dr. Iqrar Ahmed khan addressed a
welcome message and elaborate the
importance of wheat. Then Professor Dr.
Richard trethowan told us how wheat hybrid
can can break the yield barrier. Prof. Dr.
kalwinder singh gill presented the new
breakthrough technologies of hybrid
breeding of wheat and smart climate wheat
breeding, after this dr. kanwarpal S. dugha
presented about the accelerated disease
induction in wheat.
Biofortified wheat and Hybrid wheat rust
resistance. Dr. rabeeca spread some words on
three-tiered phenotyping approach to
effectively improve the heat tolerance in
wheat. Hybrid wheat performance and its
insights was discussed by Dr. Zulfikar
The inaugural session gets ended with Dr.
Muhammad Sarwar’s thanks note, and lunch
was served to all the participants.
Technical Sessions
Technical session includes different activities
and presentations such as Climate smart
wheat with maximum yield and Biofortified
wheat in Pakistan, What CIMMYT had done
in the improvement of wheat in Pakistan,
Smart Climate wheat and hybrid insights
were discussed and presented. Sustainable
and precise agriculture was the discussed
points of technical session 2, Dr. Jahanzeb
Cheema, Dr. Sqib Ali, hosted this session, in
this session, different activities regarding
precision agriculture were performed.

DAY 2 ACTIVTIES
The day 2 session was initiated with the
recitation of Holy verse of Quran e Pak. At
09;00 AM Dr. Fahim Ullah khan from
Hazara University Munsehra elaborate the
breeding for durable rust resistance in spring
wheat germplasm of Pakistan. The session
was so informative because he talked about
the Pakistani local issue as the rust is the
major issue of spring wheat. After this Dr.
Azhar Abbas from university of Agriculture
addressed about the recent fertilizer crisis.
Fertilizer crises cause a significant loss in the
yield of wheat. Approximately at 9:30 Miss
Rimsha Akhtar from forman Christian
college elaborate the new study in front of us.
She explains the expression analysis of
atrazine degrading gene in T2 transgenic
wheat. There is a lot of work is being
performed on wheat. These sessions were so
informative and enlightening. Now it is time
for next presentation, at 09:45 Dr. Kashif
Naeem from NIGAB, NARC put some
highlights on genomic footprints and
selection sweeps involved in shaping the
grain iron and zinc concentration in wheat
Technical Sessions
Dr. kulvinder Singh hosted the technical
session first with the presentation of different
topics cover the new techniques to improve
the genetics of wheat. It include the use of
genome editing and speed breeding coupled
with BNI trait for the second green revolution
in wheat genetic gain, Quantitative trait loci
for rolled leaf in a wheat EMS mutant from
Jagger (online), Identification of Genomic
Region Associated with Fusarium, Head
