Good day! Praised be Jesus and Mary! Now and forever…

I am Antonith J. Mama from St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc., studying Master of Arts in
Elementary Education, would like to express to you my heartfelt gratitude for sharing with me
your time, perspective, and experiences in my research.

Your participation as my research participant will significantly help me realize my study entitled:
UNDERSTANDING THE TRANSITIONS OF THE ELEMENTARY NON-TECH SAVVY
SEASONED TEACHERS IN THE NEW NORMAL: A PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDY. This
interview will be conducted to describe the experiences of the non-tech savvy seasoned
teachers of the elementary schools.

As you have agreed to participate voluntarily in my study and as you have signed the informed
consent form sent to you last time, I would like to remind you again that if you find your
participation is not favorable in your status, you are free to refuse this invitation. Also, please be
informed again that this whole interview will be recorded as stated in the informed consent form.
My purpose in using the in-depth interview is to gather as much as possible all the necessary
information I need in this study and to be able to have a smooth and spontaneous flow of
discussion regarding this matter. I assure you that your identity and responses will be held with
utmost confidentiality by assigning you a code name to protect your privacy.

Moreover, please be reminded that you can answer the questions using the languages or
dialects that are convenient for you to use. Thus, I will start our conversation by asking you
some questions, and please answer them as honestly as you can. You can also expound your
answer to make it accurate and more comprehensible. Shall we start?

1. What are the experiences of non-tech savvy seasoned teachers on their transitions to

new normal?

1.1 What are your experiences on your transition to new normal in terms of maintaining the

required technologies in the instructional processes?

- Maintaining the required technologies in the instructional processes was a great

challenge for me. As a none learner person using gadgets makes me really hard on

teaching the students using technology, especially that in our school we are using

Quipper which is used in recording, giving assessments, and activities to the students. It

took me a long time to work using the Quipper due to the fact that I am not really

familiar with the procedure and I’m not good in using the gadgets such as laptops,

desktop, and android.

1.2 What are the challenges that you encountered on your transition to new normal in terms

of email management?

- The most common problem that I encountered is delays in sending messages and

documents because of the slow internet connection, maintenance, and upgrades of

the said landline.

1.3 What are the difficulties that you have experienced in using technology while doing your

task in school?

- In doing tasks using the technologies most common problem that arises is that you

experience lag due to the low specs of laptops. The LMS that we are using needs to

have bigger storage to function well. because of lags I am not able to teach well and

sometimes you will not finished the entire class hour.

2 How do non-tech savvy seasoned teachers cope with the challenges they

encountered on their transitions to new normal?

2.1 How did you handle the challenges you encountered on your transition to new normal?

in terms of data management? email management? other technologies?

- Being creative and committed is what I did. Being creative is that you will not just

only rely on gadgets, whenever I have data that needs to be saved, I make sure that

I have one copy to serve as a reserved file.

2.2 What other factors have helped you cope with the challenges that you have

encountered on your transition to new normal?

- Orientation, Seminars, and Training are the factors that helped me to adjust and

adopt the new normal.

2.3 What certain attitude/s helped you overcome the challenges you have encountered on

your transition to new normal?

- Being holistic is my top attitude in overcoming challenges. Wherein I need to be open-

minded and ready to adopt any changes for the sake of my job and my students.

3. What are the insights of non-tech savvy seasoned teachers on their transitions to new

normal that can be shared to others?

3.1 What important lessons have you gained from your experiences that you can share to

other teachers?

- For me the best lesson that I could share is that no matter what kind of difficulties

we may face we must always be at our very bottom to give our best shot and we

must never let the challenges ruin our day.

3.2 What suggestions can you give to other teachers who are adapting to this new normal

and are non-tech savvy?

- Allow yourself to adopt changes and never let your ego be the anesthesia of your

stupidity.

3.3 What insights can you share to other teachers about your transition to new normal?

- Learning system might change at an unexpected moment. But we as teachers must

always be flexible and ready to adopt the changes that we might have because I
believe that a person will not grow if he or she is not willing to adopt the beauty of
learning.
