INSIGHTS ABOUT THE SEMINAR-WORKSHOP ON RELATED LEARNING

EXPERIENCE FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS.

As a participant of the webinar seminar-workshop on Related learning Experience for

Graduate Students which was held on Jan 8, 2022 at 8am, here the points I have gained from

watching and listening the webinar but before that I would like to ask an apology to you,

ma’am, because I wasn’t able to finish the seminar because we have also class on that time.

So here are only the points that I have learned from the first speaker, Mr. Jared Harem Q.

Celis, on his topic which is How to Publish Research Paper in Scopus, Sci, Web of Science

Journals. At the beginning of his discussion, it made me to ponder, “Why we need to write

and publish research paper?”, According to him, it is to share research findings and

discoveries with the hope of contributing something to the body of knowledge. Practically, to

get funding, keep your job and get promoted. Having a robust body of published work helps

advance your career as your appointment and promotions. Publishing your research paper

will help us to be expert in our field of knowledge. Next, on the part of the Structure of a

Published Research paper, he introduced to us the IMRAD which are the Introduction,

methods, results, discussion.

The reason why the research paper gets rejected once it has been reviewed because

mainly the writing of the paper. For instance, from the abstract where the topic is dull and not
interesting or a lot of previous research. Another is, small sample size, all numbers and no

talk or no talk but all numbers. The abstract is too short, too many abbreviations and too

much data. And above all, sentences itself invite rejection. These are the only part I was able

to listened to because I have to attend our online class of my two subjects. Nevertheless, it

was a great privileged to be part of the seminar as a participant. In a short period of time, I

have learned a lot.
